Think twice about having a blockage in your heart repaired. During the process Dr McLean tore my aorta by mistake. Although he was Sorry, I had to have open heart surgery to repair the tear. I spent a month in the hospital due to other complications and was very sick and weak. Then upon discharge I had to either go to a hospital, nursing home or have in home care! It was a terrible long journey. I now have to have CT scans every 6 months and then yearly to be sure I do not have weakening around the area that was cut out and replaced with a Dacron Graft! Something I was not born with and now am stuck with Then there is the pounding in my head and ears listening to my own heart beat now which is a residual effect of the surgery. What good is - I'm sorry? I should also mention, a Cardiothoracic surgeon had to be called in to do the surgery to save me. Your regular Cardiologist does not do this invasive surgery! Do any of us know this? NO And, those surgeons are not always available or… on the board! - I am lucky to be alive and am heartsick this all happened to me. I feel my organ has been harvested. I have to keep my blood pressure under control at all times so I won't cause another tear in the area of the weakened aorta. We are sitting pigeons to say the least! Doctor's get away with these errors to boot! And NOW, I have to pay for all the extra visits for my care and CT scans and echo tests and I am on a fixed income!
