Dear Potential Customer, If you do not have medical insurance coverage but are nonetheless a responsible self-payer negotiating a self-pay discount in advance, shop around and don't take no for an answer when requesting a written estimate for service. I requested a price for imaging services in advance before electing to use this company (Southeast Radiology) at Crozer Medical Center. I was given a SELF-PAY discounted price quote over the phone of $100-$125 for each ultra-sound. I didn't have any reason to believe that I would get fleeced. Instead, I received a bill for over almost $700.00. The woman who gave me the price told me that she was not allowed to give out her name and that she couldn't follow-up with an email because, due to privacy controls, she did not have email access other than internally. I should have viewed this as a red flag. The bill has been in dispute for a couple of months now and the Southeast Radiology billing department doesn't seem to care about ruining… your credit over it. Nor, do they seem to realize that you have rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act's dispute resolution rules. So, if you are a self-payer, BEWARE OF WHAT APPEAR TO BE "BAIT AND SWITCH" TACTICS FROM THE SOUTHEAST RADIOLOGY PEOPLE LOCATED AT CROZER MEDICAL CENTER. Get WRITTEN quotes from at least three radiology service providers prior to scheduling the service.
