Dr. Jonathan Masami Mori, MD

I've been to see this doc roughly about 3 times since relocating to Sac. Ca (w/ 2-3 follow up telephone consults - like brief visits). Dr Mori is fine, he certainly knows his stuff; he was after a Columbia educated doc and has done a Stanford SoM residency program after med school. I'm impressed with his in-depth knowledge which just seemingly comes out of his pores - i.e. by osmosis, as it were. If there is a fallback (and there is) it's that he is much over taxed, and reissuing required medication from other specialists from another VA facility, like in Palo Alto, often loses a lot in nominal translation somehow. He seems daunted and overstressed. After mentioning this to one or two his assistants, it seems they all concur with otherwise non-vocalized agreement. He likely has too much on his plate, and things get dropped, but far too often. But he's still a good doc even if he's bordering on a burnout. The VA does that to the many professionals who actually care for their… patients; especially the VA at Mather. It's rampant there. Too much to do, and too few resources to do it.. The VA - SCI unit at blg 7 Palo Alto, and all the clinics there as well, seem to have all the best resources and people, while Mather gets typical 'backwater' status like that of a red-headed step child. It's sad, true, and just the 'reality' everyone gets to play on; a bad deal as it were. I'm fortunate to have dual status w/ both Mather & Palo Alto VA. It's just that things fall through the cracks at Mather fairly often, not that they generally don't care - quite the opposite, it's just luck of the draw. .. I thank my lucky stars for the wonderful nurse at Mather who attends me each month, for requisite (SCI) needs. She makes all the difference. She must ultimately know that too.
