Dr. Jonathan Ira Orwitz, MD

Even after they approved a referral, when I phoned for an appt., they did not want to take me because I had fallen and did not want any possible “litigation”. After I spoke to the office manager, Christine, & explained I had fainted and would not and could sue for such, she told the recep to give me an appt. I was then told that they “were not accepting new clients with my insurance”. Phoned my insurance, who said that was not true. My insurance phoned them and they denied saying it, then, eventually admitted to saying it because “they could deny any patient they wanted”. Horizon is filing complaint, as am I, with the state Attorney General. Unbelievable care for patients.

Dr Orwitz...If I could give a zero I would. This man not only misdiagnosed me but he was condescending, misogynistic and rude. He said my trouble swallowing was "globus hystericus", turns out I had invasive Group A Strep also causing carditis and joint pain, it was not a "conversion disorder". He also believes that interstitial cystitis doesn't exist, women are imagining it.

Sadly, I cannot recommend this doctor. My first appointment was cancelled by the doctor, two weeks after I made the appointment, with a day's notice, because he had an unspecified "emergency." Then, the next rescheduled visit, I was told I could not be seen because I was more than 10 minutes late, and it was their "policy" not to see tardy patients. Finally, when I finally did see the doctor, he was rude and seemed to be in a hurry.

Dr. O has treated several family members and over the years his caring and professionalism haven't lessened a bit. Very personable and very intelligent - recommended by other docs in the area.
