Solid diagnostics.

I have known him for years and has always been a very good diagnostician. He is also thoughtful about his treatment plans and is not quick to medicate children.

He confirms appointments by text, which is very convenient, and is always available by phone when I have a problem that needs his attention. He's kind and listens intently to my daughter (the patient) and to me and allows us to part of the process rather than just accept whatever he decrees. He's been really good to work with for the past year and a half, and I would recommend him highly.

Worst psychiatrist I've ever seen. Seen my fair share in the last 10 plus years. Overly simplistic and apathetic. No compassion. Basically just heard some symptoms and gave prescriptions. Didn't seem to do any real thinking about my situation as it evolved and new approaches needed to be taken. Even left me stranded and refused to talk to me on the phone when I was unsure if I was getting medication toxicity (left me to his answering staff who hung up on me after I insisted I needed more help.) So many better Drs in NY ; I'm surprised hes still in business.

Dr. Sokal was pretty good for a few years, but when my illness recurred he got frustrated that I wasn't getting better. He became very curt & a little bit snide. He was dismissive & told me he didn't want to see me anymore. Not what I needed when I was relapsing. Very cold.
