Dr. Jonathan C Townley, MD

Yes, Jonathan Townley broke his Hippocratic Oath ~ first do no harm, then to do good. At the end of my emergency room visit with him I realized he did no good for me medically, but now, over a month later I really recognize just how much he harmed me psychologically. I had gone to ER anticipating receiving good care, but instead found myself with a Dr. (Jonathan Townley) who was condescending, patronizing, disinterested in listening to me or actually providing care, and to top it off he was actually vindictive towards me! The reason I went to ER was because I had experienced a mild heart attack. From the moment 'Dr.' Townley entered the exam room he was brusque and impatient towards me and displayed no interest in gaining any of my previous heart health history or that of my family; which should have been significant to my medical care from him. I was diagnosed with arrythmia a very long time ago, and in recent months displaying symptoms consistent with negative heart health. My… father's cause of death was cardiac arrest and myocardial infarction. My mother's was cardiorespiratory arrest, cardiogenic shock, and severe cardiomyopathy. My brother died from fatal cardiac arrythmia and arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. My sister died from cardiopulmonary arrest. At 63, I have already outlived both of my siblings. But as I said, Dr. Townley had no interest in knowing any of this. Anything I tried to express to him about my health he responded condescendingly; he even went so far as to tell me to stop self diagnosing! Self diagnosing ~ how patronizing is that!! In no way had I self diagnosed! Then, to top it off he told me I did not have an unrelated medical condition that I have been diagnosed with by my primary physician and 3 specialists whom I have seen, or currently am seeing, for care. That had nothing to do with why I was being seen by Dr. Townley, and, once again, he did not know my full history on this. Yet pompously he 'diagnosed' me on the spot and condescended to me regarding this. When I disagreed with him on the misinformation he was patronizingly feeding me he angrily jumped up off his stool and left the room. When he returned he smugly announced that according to the EKG I had not had a heart attack... (which EKG... the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd that had to be taken???) Following all this, 'Dr.' Townley then, with purposeful vindictiveness, reported on my record the reason for my visit and the diagnosis was "jaw pain"; obviously satisfying his ego with one last slap of shame on me (as if I would actually go to ER simply for jaw pain.) I have never been treated so badly by a 'medical professional'. I wish to God I hadn't gone in that afternoon, but was convinced to by people that care about me. I even had a companion with me through every bit of this and she will attest to the fact that what I write here is not only true but also that there is so much more I could say on how he treated, or in this case mistreated, me. I can't even begin to express the psychological effects this experience has had on me. I am completely fearful and resistant to even the suggestion of going to a doctor or clinic for medical care that I am in need of right now. I have prayed and contemplated as to whether or not I should leave this review, and waited until all the surge of emotionalism had passed, and obviously concluded that my experience needed to be shared.

Misdiagnosed my illness leading to a 2nd ER trip and emergency surgery. The 2nd ER visit cost me again. Six months AFTER I had paid everything United Healthcare did not pay, Dr Townley’s billing company sent my account for the amount of the 2nd ER visit to collections! And it had been paid six months before! I filed a complaint against them with the state Attorney General.
