Dr. Jordan Matthew Wetstone, MD

My 64 year old Mom was admitted to Kennestone Hospital for a heart attack. Dr. Wetstone was on duty. When he entered my Mom's hospital room, he began questioning her about her smoking habits. He asked her how long she had smoked, how much she smokes, then proceeded to tell/ask her "You just can't leave them alone, can you?". Mom didn't reply to that and then when Dr. Wetstone asked her if she was going to quit, Mom shrugged her shoulders and then he said to her, "Well I don't know why we are going through with this surgery". My Mom passed away at Kennestone from complications during surgery. I strongly feel that his attitude directly affected the care my mom received under his care. It doesn't/SHOULDN'T matter if your patient is a smoker or non-smoker, your job is your job! The next morning, as I entered the hall to visit my mom, who was on life support in CICU, I passed Dr. Wetstone carrying a Krispy Kreme doughnut box....I so badly wanted to ask him if he knew they were bad for him.… If your family member has heart issues, I STRONGLY suggest you avoid Kennestone Hospital. After my Mom waited 2.5 days after being admitted, she was taken to surgery at 4 o'clock on a Friday afternoon. Her "case" was put on hold on 4 occasions due to worse emergencies than hers. We had to threaten the hospital that we were going to have her moved to a different one if they did not make and KEEP her "case" active. I wish now we would have transferred her to Piedmont. Rest in Peace Sweet Mom.
