Dr. Jorge Ivan Lopez, MD

He has a lot of bad ratings, but I thought he was great. He and his medical student took time with me, listened and then told me my issue wasn't neurological. He discussed my issue with me and offered useful advice. Then he gave me a headache chart to log headaches in case they escalated. Although I could see how people might find his communication style a littl too direct, I prefer it that way. No wishy washy nonsense here. In addition to the student Doctor there was a student nurse. I support this fully because we need them!

I had a bad experience with this doctor. Dr. Lopez had a student with him which I thought she was more helpful than him. He diagnosed me with "Chronic Migraines" which I already knew that, and it was one of the reasons I went to go see him but he was no help! I asked him if he could order an MRI so I could have peace of mind and his response was " if you can afford the MRI I can order it for you." I thought this was so unprofessional. Why would you say that to a patient? Dr. Lopez also did not look at my previous results or notes from my ENT who suggested I see a neurologist for hearing loss. Dr. Lopez was RUDE, very SHORT with me, as well as being SMART with me. Liz the front desk gal was rude as well and she couldn't understand that I needed a copy of my referral, as I was going somewhere else to get the MRI. The only people that I thought were helpful in this office was the student and one of the receptionist. I will not be going back to him. Dr. Lopez was not helpful.

First I have to say I have read a lot of reviews on this Dr. and was actually considering not going to him because of the reviews I read. MOST were really bad. I am glad we went ahead with our appointment. It was actually for my 15 year old daughter who has Epilepsy and Autism. She LOVED Dr. Lopez and my husband and I feel the same about him. He was courteous and patient with our daughter. He was thorough and explained things to us and answered all our questions. He talked to our daughter and waited for her to respond,which can be hard sometimes. We have been looking for a neurologist for about 3 years. We were even going to UCSF for a while because we couldn't find one in Reno that fit what we were looking for.

This guy is very impersonal and rude he won't even talk to you about anything u might think might be cause of nerve damage he told me he doesn't care and was very rude treated me very bad I am a single father of 2 I have been working for last 15 years I have nerve damage and I can't work at the moment and he just stereotyped me and treated me very badly

i dont have anything positive to say about him. Almost a year ago I was on vacation and have a large gran mal seizure and happened to mention that I diagnosed myself (so bad I know) with complex partial seizures. He pretentiously dismissed everything I had to say while also saying that I will most likely never have a seizure again. I am now home receiving 3,000 mg a day of meds and am a high risk surgery patient for epileptic surgery at Hopkins. Long story short, never go see him.

I saw him today and he was very kind. No rush and was not rude in any way. Actually went out of his way to make me comfortable. I would gladly send my family or friends to him. Seeing him again in April. Just wish I didn't have to drive all the way to Reno

He was on his cellphone during my entire visit & he talked down to me & didn't seem interested with my problem.

I agree with the above review. This man should be stripped of his credentials. I saw him May of 2013. He is incorrect in his statements. He is very rude. Please AMA strip him of his credentials. No wonder he moves around so much, the hospitals and patients are onto him and making reports. Please do not see this doctor as you will be misdiagnosed, come out of the appt feeling worse than when you went in. My husband who accompanied me asked me to write this or he would have!

My wife went to see Dr Lopez for a brain injury that she suffered. He was referred by another family Dr close to our house. He was rude, his bedside manner was terrible and acted like a bully. He spent less than 5 minutes with her after we drove three hours to see him. Her experience was awful.
