Timely, patient, excellent bedside manner and thourough.

Dr. Jorge A. Velez Garza : I have yet to be treated for my endocrine issues. My thyroid levels fluctuate. So he does not recommend medications at the moment. The first appointment was via video conferencing. About 40 mins. I answered medical history questions. Symptoms. Some blood work concerns. He gave his recommendations. He answered most of my questions for future treatment. Felt a little rushed off but I could understand that most doctors don’t spend that much time with each patient. In all honesty, he came off a little sexist in his assumptions of my medical history but over all ok. I’ve encountered worst treatment. He listens, he’s informative & makes his suggestions. We’ll see if he has a successful plan for regulating my endocrine issues.

Here is my Post on the Texas Diabetes Institute’s webpage. My appointment to see Dr Velez was at 10’am. I got there at 9:45, they took me back within five minutes, and I sat in the room for about an hour, some flunky comes in doesn't introduce himself, ask the bunch of questions, more about my history, doesn't look up crap in the UT database. He then gets up and leaves. After about an hour waiting, they try to put another patient in my room with me. Not a good sign. Then the doctor comes in about 1120 (my appointment was at 10:00 am) tells me there's nothing wrong with my feet, And that there's nothing he can do for my diabetes issues. I ask him why someone just updated my online record showing I have Stage 3 kidney failure. He says he did it. I ask why? He says from your previous labs, I see you have stage 3 kidney failure so I put that condition in your medical records. I asked him to help me with the diabetes, neuropathy, he pokes my feet and about 50% of… the time I cannot feel it on my left foot. He says that’s normal, I tell him that’s not normal for me. He just shrugs his shoulders and says I’m going to prescribe you fish oil. I ask what for, he says your high cholesterol. I remind him again, that my blood test were invalid due to a blood disorder that I’m being treated by a Hematologist. He again tells me he knows better and I’m to take the medicine. When I leave I asked the clerk at the front desk does it always take an hour and a half to two hours to see the doctor, she say yes. I ended up calling the my transplant coordinator relaying out all this, and ask them why the endocrinologist is prescribe me fish oil and talking about Stage III kidney failure and doing nothing for diabetes. In addition why am I hearing this from him and nobody else if this is true. I’m so freaking angry. I wait 6 months for this visit and the doctor is a complete idiot. Needless to say, I tore up his prescription, his notes and cancelled the followup he made Go somewhere else, place is dirty, unprofessional and they just don't care. Seems like a free clinic. No one smiles or seems happy to work there.
