Dr. Jose Miguel Barrios, MD

I felt Dr. Barrios really listened and heard all I was concerned about. He explained his all possible options clearly and had a great bedside manner with my daughter.

He misdiagnosed my 10-year-old son with behavioral constipation...and when the "MiraLAX" cleanout didn't work, he *insisted* on going through with a colonoscopy ANYWAY. Guess what? It wasn't behavioral constipation at all -- it was a gastrointestinal helicobacter heilmannii infection...which "Doctor" Barrios should have at the very least suspected, since his curriculum vitae indicates he's written several medical papers on that very subject. I knew it wasn't behavioral, and refused to consent to the colonoscopy. The good doctor responded by reporting to CPS that I had Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy...testified against us in court...and deliberately, purposely, spitefully worked to have both our children removed. Because of him, our kids have been gone for two years...but this guy is still free to breezily misdiagnose and *practice* on countless kids. Arrogant and shoddy -- a very careless doctor and dangerous, vicious man.

Dr. Barrios is great. After months of wondering, he was able to diagnose and treat our child in just a few weeks. He was so kind to our child, and his staff was always really kid friendly. My husband and I would recommend Dr. Barrios and RMPGI just as our pediatrician did.

Dr. Barrioss has been kind and respectful to our child. However the follow through by his medical assistant has been atrocious. She has been condescending and exhibits poor judgement. I am considering another gastroenterologist based solely on the MA.

We were recommended by our pediatrician to see Dr. Barrios for our son. We knew something was wrong and Dr. Barrios was very efficient and extremely thorough with his immediate care. Within 2 weeks we knew he needed to have his gall bladder removed and at the age of 12 we were very concerned but his professionalism and bed side manner assured us that we were making the right choice. There is no other pediatric GI specialist I would ever recommend. If you want the best overall care and doctor than Dr. Barrios is the perfect man. He makes a patient feel safe and gives them the individual time and attention as if they are his only patient!

Dr. Barrios has been the only GI doctor that has made progress with my son's GI ailments, has been kind, courteous, and most importantly knowledgeable. His office staff made every attempt to fit us into a same day appointment whenever we had an emergency. Although my ranking for "accuracy in diagnosing a problem" is at a 4 vs 5 it is so because no-one has been able to determine the exact cause of my son's GI problems. HOWEVER, Dr. Barrios did everything in his power to make sure my son began the healing process, knew the appropriate avenues, diets, special formulas, other professionals to assist my son with PT, etc, and when Dr. Barrios didn't have an answer he would do his research and find a solution. We also respect the fact that he chose not to use the easiest, quickest methods to "cure" or band aide a problem. Dr. Barrios and his staff are excellent to work with and I highly recommend them.
