Dr. Jose Navia

There are not enough stars to rate Dr. Navia. He is an outstanding doctor. He is kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. He has all of the qualities that make for an excellent surgeon. If you need heart surgery, he is the man to trust. He saved my husband’s life. Many complications arose during and after his surgery and Dr. Navia never gave up. No matter what time of day… he seemed to always be available and was committed to doing whatever was necessary for recovery. He was patient and positive through some very challenging situations. I just don’t have words to capture the respect I have for him. Thank you Dr. Navia… you are gift to those fortunate enough to know and be treated by you!

2001. Dr. Navia repaired my heart with a triple bypass. It's been 18 years now and my cardiologist proclaims me healthy. I did require a couple of stents a few years ago. I'm happy.

Never met a doctor as precise and knowledgeable as Dr. Jose Navia. He will take time to explain the procedure to you, take time to listen to your concerns and very confident and excellent surgeon. During my triple bypass, he found a leak in one of the valves in my heart, he went ahead and fixed the leak. Very thorough and experienced surgeon. I am just so thankful that he was the one who performed by bypass surgery.

Ten years ago this month Dr. Navia and I met one Friday morning. We spent about four or five hours together as he replaced my aortic valve with a bioprosthesis. Ten years later (now almost age 77), I am asymptomatic, riding my bike 15+ miles 4-5 times a week, and though retired still teaching and volunteering at a local medical clinic routinely. Need I say more? It speaks for itself. Can't be doing any better than this. Thank you Dr. N. (and to Dr. Wm Stewart who helped shepherd me through the process.)

I had three other Cardiovascular surgeons who would not do my surgery as I had a massive endocarditis( infection).My blood was flowing backwards the prognosis looked grim.Dr. Jose Navia saved my life.His expertise and confidence was beyond amazing. Dr. Navia accepted me as a patient for complicated heart surgery after I was turned down by two other surgeons. Even though I had to wait for six weeks to get in to see Dr. Navia, once I was in the pipeline surgery was done two days later. Because of his ability to do minimal invasive surgery and use robotic surgery, I was out of the hospital three days after surgery. He took his time to listen and reassure my wife and family after he explained the options and risks of surgery. The entire Cleveland Clinic Heart Surgery team is skilled, but also has a human touch which is probably why people come from all over the world to have surgery here.

Dr. Navia is a gifted heart surgeon, and one of the best heart surgeons in the U.S. and is a pioneer in innovative, non-invasive surgery. He takes complicated patients (like me) that other heart surgeons have turned down.Because of the demand for his expertise, it is hard to get an appointment with him (at least in my case). I noticed many patients in his office waiting a long time to see him. However, when in the room with him, he encourages any questions and patiently answers them (unlike many surgeons who are in a rush to get their patients out the door).Everything aside, Dr. Navia saved my life. I was out of the Cleveland Clinic within 4 days of major heart surgery.
