Dr. Jose Francisco Pliego, MD

In all honestly, if I could give Dr. Pliego less than one star I would. An OB/GYN in his office referred me to him for fertility issues after suspecting based on history I shared with her that I might have endometriosis. During my first appointment with Dr. Pliego I mentioned this same history and he brushed right past my concerns. He ran several labs all of which determined that I had no issues with ovulation, meaning that the reason I was not able to conceive was not because I was not ovulating properly. Despite this, his recommendation was for me to try an oral medication that assisted with ovulation issues for three months. His explanation for this was that it would increase chances of getting pregnant each month by a small percentage by releasing multiple eggs during ovulation. He also suggested that I attempt to gain weight even though my BMI was normal. Each month of medication had to be monitored by ultrasound to confirm ovulation. The three months passed on this… medication and I was not able to conceive. I found out from the doctor I transferred to after Dr. Pliego that my chart made note of an endometrial cyst present in my right ovary during my second month of treatment under Dr. Pliego. Dr. Pliego never disclosed to me that he identified this cyst. He knowingly and deliberately withheld pertinent medical information from me. In addition to the unacceptable treatment described above, Dr. Pliego also made me the brunt of his jokes in front of other medical professionals during a medical procedure in which I was already in an uncomfortable, exposed situation. The procedure took place the weekend after Thanksgiving. Dr. Pliego entered the radiology suite where I was along with two radiology techs and a radiologist. He asked me, "Did you have a good Thanksgiving? Wait, I don't know why I even asked. You probably didn't eat anything." This was the most inappropriate and unprofessional medical care experience I have ever had. This incident prompted me to quickly seek care elsewhere. Overall, Dr. Pliego's beside manner is incredibly unprofessional and condescending. I would not recommend him at all, most especially not for treatment as emotionally charged as infertility. If you live in the greater Austin area I would highly recommend seeking treatment for infertility at Texas Fertility Center. My concerns were listened to intently there and in less than six months of treatment by their staff my husband and I were able to naturally conceive a child.

Extremely happy with Dr.Pliego he has taken the time and put forth effort into figuring out what's going on with my body!

Top-notch skills, intelligent, caring, highly professional, kind, and patient.He dealt with the problem very quickly. One of the best in the world! (We have used medical services abroad.) I would definitely recommend him to my family and friends.

My wife and I had been having a difficult time trying to conceive a child and almost gave up till we met Dr Pliego! Although we are still going through the process things have been going great we have been getting great results and keep moving forward thanks to doctor Pliego! Also Jamie has been a great help in getting us our appointments and with quick and accurate information plus her morale support had been phenomenal! We wouldn't be this close without the two thank you!
