Dr. Josefina Vega Marin, MD

Dr. Josephina Marin stands out in comparison to other doctors. Not only is she incredibly warm, compassionate and grounded, but she is passionate about her work as a gynecologist. She remains current regarding the latest research and is genuinely invested in helping her patients to focus on their overall health and well being. She is also very diligent when it comes to ruling out potential issues before they become a serious problem. I feel truly blessed that I have her as my doctor. It's rare to find someone who demonstrates Dr. Marin's level of integrity and concern and who is very astute when it comes to her area of expertise. Please note that I I have been her patient for over thirty years. I recommend her without reservation.

It pains me to have to give Dr. Marin a 2 star, because I believe she is an excellent doctor that truly cares about her patients as a whole, looking at all aspects of their health. However, I was seeing her for many years and had to switch practices. I'm not sure if she has taken on too many patients, but I found it harder and harder to get appointments in a timely manner. And on TWO separate occasions, booked an appointment, came to the office at said time, and was told they did not have my appointment on the books. Both times I was there for issues that were causing me a lot of pain and discomfort, so waiting was unbearable. I also noticed as time went on, Marin appeared less and less knowledgeable about my specific history and needs. She appeared to forget I had been her patient for years, sometimes speaking to me as if we were meeting for the first time (which made absolutely no sense). She also appeared to read my chart in front of me each time to familiarize herself with my… history, even when I had been there very recently. I am so disappointed as I sincerely loved her as a doctor for many years.

I had been seeing her for many years for my yearly well check-ups. When I started to have problems, I obviously went to her for help. I could not have been more disappointed with the care I received. She was pigheaded about how to treat me and no consideration for my specific circumstances. Everyone is not made the same, what works for the majority may not be the answer for another and she refuses to look beyond her prescribed treatments. I identify with the reviewers who said she refuses to let you get a word in. A provider needs to look at each patient as an individual and educate themselves about each particular circumstance! Currently receiving excellent care and doing very well.

I went for a second opinion/consult appointment here recently. When I made the appt a month in advance, they asked me to send in 3 years of my most recent medical records. I sent all my necessary reports and results in and verified that they were received. The day of my appt I was called in and the nurse asked for a urine sample. I told her that I was here for a second opinion visit. I then spent the next half hour with the nurse answering questions as if I were a new patient. Which I wasn't...I also told the nurse some of the reasons I was here for the consult. When I was called in to see the doctor, the nurse handed her some copies of some of my paperwork. It looked like she was just seeing my paperwork that morning....even though I had sent it in well ahead of time. In addition, I told the nurse that I had brought disks of my procedures with me and was told they don't have the ability to view them, which I thought was extremely odd. What ensued was definitely an opinion, not a… consult. The doctor is a very learned person but what I had hoped for was a discussion of my specific situation not the textbook party line about standard treatment. I am sorry that I did not speak up more but I was trying to be polite and listen. In hindsight, I wish I had been more vocal.

Beautiful office, very nice staff. The provider was really friendly and super enthusiastic, spent a great deal of time with me and was obviously very passionate. Unfortunately she feels really strongly about two popular fad diet (there is no other word for them, as they are not evidence based) that I was not able to get a word in edge wise. Ultimately, we did not even have time to address my presenting complaint because so much time was spent discussing these diets! I tried to re-direct her several times, even reminding her that I was in eating disorder recovery and discussions like these were dangerous to me and not helpful. Regrettably, this did not seem to slow her tirade, although she did concede that it was not wise to “stress about food”. Sadly, this shows a poor understanding of eating disorders and how detrimental they are to health. More than just “stressing about food,” they are a deadly mental illness. Repeatedly prescribing diets, especially after the patient asks you not… to, is akin to prescribing a recovered alcoholic a drink. I am really disappointed because I loved many things about her approach, her mannerisms, her knowledge etc, but her refusal to honor my boundaries (even though I know she thinks she is doing the right thing) means that I cannot safely work with her. She obviously is very passionate about her job and well educated, but she needs to reflect on her lack of sensitivity to people in certain populations, and do some continuing education on how to work with these patients without inadvertently harming them. Obviously, if you are health conscious and like a good fad diet every now and then, you will probably love her. There was a lot to like about her, but her sensitivity to a patients individual needs is not where it needs to be.

Amazing and attentive! She is so kind. A beautiful soul of a woman. She makes you feel calm. Dr. Marin has years of experience and that is why I chose her.

Dr Marin has been my gyn/ob for 20 years plus , and she is a smart, compassionate and classy woman who passionately values life and families. She is the best!!!

First appt w Dr Marin Very pleased w her attitude and msnner. Plan to stay!

Dr. Marin was lovely and addressed all of my concerns. She never made me feel rushed, and even left me a handwritten note with her cellphone number after my surgery so I could contact her directly if I had any complications or concerns. She is what all doctors should be.
