Dr. Joseph Ahlstrom Chiara

I saw Dr. Chiara because of huge pressure on my right ear. I told him that it felt like something was trapped; fluid or air. When I asked him to please check my middle hear he told me that only kids have fluid and what people my age (over 60) have is bad hearing. He told me I had muffled hearing because of my old age and all I needed was a hearing test. I saw another ENT. Turns out I have extremely good hearing but had a dyfunctial eustachian tube, which did not regulate pressure correctly and required a small surgery. So hurtful that this man caused me 2 more weeks of suffering because he was too lazy to check out my ear. I am not too old to have good hearing but he might be too old to practice.

When I first came here all was fine, I even had surgery. It wasn't until 5 months after surgery that I started having some weird symptoms/side effects that I didn't have prior to surgery. I made an emergency appointment because it was a little scary. Dr. Chiara looked me over, said it's not related, and that it was anxiety induced. That's when I realized I need to find another doctor. Even my Primary Care doctor said they believed it was connected to my surgery and ongoing ear issues.I have an appointment with another ENT doctor in a few days. I will update this post with the details from that doctor who has really great reviews on google.

my son's ear was itching,I got an appointment with Dr Chiara, he didn't prescribed any medicine, he asked us to go to his office every week and he just puffed a powder in my son ears, I brought my son few weeks but there was no sign of improvement. I had to change his doctor after spending times and my money.

DR. Chiara put tubes in my daughters ears. The entire experience was absolutely fantastic. He made me feel comfortable, walked me through the entire process. By the end of everything I was completely calm and satisfied. Thank you. My daughter now has progressed so much. Speaking, talking and interacting with others. Thank you again. Both my sons and myself have been seen my Dr Chiara. My three year old has had two surgery’s for tubes and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my son and myself. Also my my five year old had a tonsillectomy, adenoids and his tongue tie fixed. Again, I couldn’t have felt more comfortable with Dr Chiara’s bedside manner and his staff as well. I have already recommended him to others and will continue to do so. Thanks Dr Chiara for expertise and making us feel like family!

Dr. Chiara is a disgraceful example of a physician who puts himself and what he believes as more important than what his patients have to say. I have had sinus problems and recurrent sinus infections my entire life. They are always the worst in my right maxillary sinus. My allergist ordered a CT scan and recommended I see an ENT. Dr. Chiara looked at my scan prior to seeing me and it was obvious that he judged me before even meeting me. He said the scan showed absolutely nothing and that my sinus issues didn’t exist. He focused on my symptoms of pain and disregarded all my other reports – feelings of post nasal drip, swollen right nasal passage that was harder to breathe through, on and off yellow mucus, tooth pain on right side, sensation of right ear pressure and swollen lymph nodes all on the same side of the face as the particular sinus. He interrupted multiple times when I tried to talk to him about my other symptoms and just said that there was no way I had sinus infections based… on what he saw on one scan. He placed me in the position of having a private conversation with him by making me look at my scans with him in an open area where other patients walk by, making me feel like my privacy was compromised. He also said that there was NO medical professional that would/could help me. He did finally offer me a second CT scan, but after how much I felt degraded by the way he spoke to me, compromised my privacy, and wouldn’t listen, why would I go back to him? My allergist recommended to get a second opinion from a doctor that is known to be compassionate and actually listen to their patients before rushing to judgment.

Dr. Chiara is someone who takes pride in his job!!! Our daughter had a nodule on her thyroid and as parents we were scared we thought the worst 11 years old how can this be happening and after two visits with him listening and being patient with us asking questions we never felt rushed even through fallow ups after our daughters surgery I would highly recommend Dr. Chiara, Thank you again Dr. Chiara from our family to yours god bless you.

Dr. Chiara was very attentive in his assessment. He noticed conditions that I had not even made my appointment regarding. He is very thorough and and personable. He takes time to listen to your concerns and does not make you feel rushed. Overall I thought he was a great physican and would refer anyone to go to him; you won't be let down.
