I graduated from T.C. Roberson High School in 1983 and then attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where I obtained a Bachelors Degree with Distinction in Chemistry in 1987. I then began my medical education at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University, graduating in 1991. My Family Medicine residency training was at Methodist Hospital, a very large downtown hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, where I was required to be trauma certified to work in the Level I Trauma Center. During residency I was chosen to be Chief Resident of the Family Medicine Program.

After completing my training I moved back to Asheville and joined a larger practice, Asheville Family Medicine, as one of five partners. I opened my current practice, Biltmore Family Medicine, in 2004, and have remained a solo practitioner with the assistance of physician extenders. I have now practiced Family Medicine for over 30 years which has …required certification and recertification of my Board exams on four occasions so far. I love caring for people and giving personal care which is increasingly difficult to find in today’s medical climate.
