Dr. Joseph Scott Benjamin, MD

Horrible. I went in for pain in my knee. I have had osteoarthritis for 20+ years and this was a "new" kind of pain which I felt it as soon as it happened. Dr. Benjamin told me it was nothing and that a may have the beginning stages of osteoarthritis. I told him I knew that and it is not an arthritis pain (or beginning stages) as I had been battling that for years. He did nothing more and sent me on my way. An MRI with my regular doctor showed my knee was fractured. I would NEVER recommend him to anyone.

I would not recommend Dr. Benjamin to anyone. We took my daughter, who is 14 months, in for a checkup to see if she had RSV. Dr. Benjamin only looked in her ears and a slight look in her mouth and said it was just the common cold. He said it was viral and to wait 3 to 5 days for it to clear up. He did not bother to listen to her chest to see if there was any congestion and only after asking that she be tested for RSV was that test done. The nurse did more than Dr. Benjamin did. After waiting a couple days with this "common cold" I took our daughter back in to our normal pediatrician and she was diagnosed with a severe case of croup. It angers me to know that this could have been caught sooner had We seen a more sophisticated doctor.

The doctor seemed afraid to come near me. He literally shined a light down my throat and looked in it from 5 feet away. He shooed me out of the office after a whopping 3 minutes with antibiotics and didn't really even examine me.

My wife just left his Urgent Care office and this doctor treated her like the scum of society because she didn't have insurance. He recommended she "find a way to get some insurance" because he "won't examine you without insurance." I was waiting in the parking lot with our children when she walked out of the hospital crying because she was in so much pain (throughout her right side, which is why she was there) and he was so rude, flirting with the nurses instead of concerning himself with her. Now instead of being at work, she is in bed crying because her side hurts so bad. I understand that we don't have insurance and we should have some, but my wife works 60 hours per week at a company that doesn't offer insurance while I go to the local university full-time and work part-time so that we can get to a point where things like insurance are not an issue for us. It is absolutely impossible to afford insurance out of pocket on our income, so when situations like today arise, we try to do… the responsible thing and go to Urgent Care instead of the E.R., where walking into the door is an extra couple hundred dollars. As a biology major myself, people like Dr. Benjamin make me seriously consider medical school so that I can contribute to the doctors who truly care about their patients - instead of a bunch of academically gifted people who become doctors for the sole purpose of earning the largest paycheck they can. I'm disgusted with this man's mannerism and performance as a physician.

Horrible experience. He seemed like he hadn't even gone to med school and was clueless. I will be avoiding him like the plague.
