Dr. Joseph Gabriel Birnbaum, MD

My husband is dead thanks to you Dr. Birnbaum how many other people have you killed by your lack of incompetence? You left me a widow with 9 year old triplets who are suffering beyond that I must watch every day all because all you did was sit and write prescriptions instead of being proactive with my husband. After all the years of being a Doctor I would think you would have more take charge and be hands-on to a patient who had type 2 diabetes genetic, family history of heart disease, and high cholesterol. since he was 32. I am not a Doctor but I would assume that this is a person at high risk for heart disease by just even having diabetes alone. But you never took that extra step Dr to send him to a cardiologist and now he is gone due to your incompetence a 51 year old man who you robbed his life from his children and wife. Since 2017 he came to you faithfully every three months he trusted you and you failed him. Come clean and accept your mistake it’s the right thing to do… and never treat another patient like this again, care for your patients as you would your own family because if you did with my husband we wouldn’t be where we are today there was help for him but all you cared about was writing Rx's. Thank god my husband did other vitamins for his diabetes and cholesterol because if not he would of been gone a long time ago. He was a walking time bomb and this could have turned into an even worse tragedy as he was always driving his family around. SHAME ON YOU!!! So when my passed away suddenly I called you up and asked you what happen, your answer he was doing great when he was in for his visit three weeks ago, how good was he really doing I questioned you why did you not send him to a Cardiologist, your answer was he was doing well, I said he was high risk, family history of heart disease his Dad and Uncle, I just read Diabetes builds plaque and let’s not forget cholesterol. I said to you why didn’t you do a baseline to make sure he was truly and be proactive if you would of done so he would be THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LEAVING ME A WIDOW AND DOING THIS TO MY CHILDREN YOU RUINED THREE INNOCENT CHILDRENS LIFES AND STOLE THE BEST YEARS OF THEIR LIFE. You have tried to cover up everything and your records are so contradicting to our conversation. I asked for my husband’s records you gave me 22 pages but yet when the attorney asked for records you gave him 66 pages why did I not receive my husband’s full chart? Aside from you records a mess all scribbled and not electronic, so you can put whatever you want the truth will come out. Your story changed so much versus our conversation over the phone you are a down right liar. You are trying to cover up and say you did tell him to go, BUT no RX to prove it, no notes that my husband was incompliant. You are a disgrace of a Doctor who should be stripped of that title so you don’t kill anyone else. My husband had three clogged coronary arteries at 96 percent and died of cardiac arrest thanks to you Dr. Birnbaum again I want to thank you. There are other things I have on you but I won’t show my full hand so you can cover up some more, but when someone lies eventually they mess up on something which you did as to the other things I have on you.

I accompanied my husband to his office visit with Dr. Birnbaum. It did take us 5 weeks to get the appointment, but it was well worth the wait. I called several times to see if I could move up the appointment, and I was always treated with respect and never was left to feel that I was bothering anyone. My husband was sent for a biopsy. When the results came in, I was able to speak to Dr. Birnbaum himself, and he explained everything about the results. Even took the time to spell words that I was not familiar with. I asked if he would also call my husband at work because I might have missed writing something down. He made sure before he left for the day that he phoned my husband also! When we were in search for a surgeon, I asked his staff to fax results to several surgeons. They never complained--and the fax was always sent immediately!! I would recommend Dr. Birnbaum!!

Wonderful, kind, caring doctor! However, the staff is rude and obnoxious. They refuse to relay information to the doctor nor do they return calls. You're always put on hold & left holding unt the call disconnects. The nurse is fresh & obviously doesn't want to be there. It's a shame this fine doctor with such a nice bedside manner loses patients due to his rude staff!

The wait to see the doctor is always at least 45 minutes to an hour, if you are lucky. I was there for an 11:45am appointment today and waited in the waiting room until 12:30pm, then waited in his patient room for another 10 minutes until I had enough and had to get to work so I left without ever seeing the doctor. When I came in I asked his office staff how long the wait was and the answer was that they don't pay attention to that. Even though the doctor may be good, he hasn't any consideration for your time and schedule and is staff his nasty and could care less about you sitting in the waiting room. I am now in the process of looking for a new endocrinologist. My time is as valuable to me as his time is to him. Every appointment I have had with him, I have always had to wait a ridiculous amount of time and this visit was the last straw. I have also sat there and listened to other patients complain of the same thing. When I talked to the doctor about the long wait, all he says… is sorry but it keeps happening over and over.

I called to gather information about the doctor regaurding a new patient and spoke with Mary. She was absolutely a horrible representation of this doctor. He could be the best endocrinologist in the area but the patient will never know because there is absolutely no way I would refer this office after speaking with her. When a new patient is inquiring, an initial reaction should be warm and helpful. This does not include the office staff, Mary, yelling in your ear and speaking to you disrespectfully. It is a shame that this doctor has such staff because judging by the other reviews he seems like he is a good doctor himself.

Dr Birnbaum is the 3rd endocronologist that I have been to in the last 5 years. I was very disappointed in the past 2 and have found Dr Birnbaum to be a breath of fresh air. My previous doctors would rush me in and out and simply tell me my past results from my bloodwork and shuffle me out the door. The one doctor I would routinely wait for 4 hours.Dr Birnbaum spends more then enough time with me asking and answering questions to great length. I now have a complete understanding of my condition now and where it may go in the years ahead. The ONLY negative thing I could say is that if you are the type of person that needs a doctor in a fancy modern office building, you will not find this here.
