Dr. Joseph Michael Black, MD

Just came in for a screening colonoscopy. He discovered that I had a heart murmur and sent me to get my heart checked out. My pcp didn’t know I had it! Colonoscopy was fine. Now on heart medication.

He is NOT a board certified Gastroenterologist. DO some research!

doctor was professional and honest, glad I went to see him

Without checking with my insurance provider, I was told by Dr. Black that, because of my family history, insurance would cover the cost of my colonoscopy. This information was entirely incorrect. Over $4000 & one year later, Dr. Black's office refused to acknowledge &/or rectify the misleading information regarding billing & consumer cost.

I went in for my appointment and was told my issues were all made up in my head and he refused to help me. He was extremely condescending the whole time. My pcp later ordered scans which showed what the issue was and referred me back to dr black, who refused to talk to me or help me. They have 2 people running the whole office, the doctor and some very rude and condescending woman. I would not trust him to care for me even if he did offer to help.

Very knowledgeable, informative. He's been in Roseburg a very long time. Performs procedures in the hospital which I find preferable. Hospital staff is more attentive and competent than the alternate location. I witnessed and heard about a friend's experience not in the hospital.

I was really nervous and Dr. Black's and his staff were very calm and helpful. When I had my colonoscopy the cleanout drink wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I thought they were joking when I woke up from my procedure and they told me I was done. I didn't even know they had started. I thought I was bleeding from cancer. He found a large poly and removed it and now there no more bleeding.

I am undergoing complicated Gastroenterology surgery at Mayo Clinic and needed a Dr. to follow up with my procedures. I requested an appointment with Dr. Black and he was unwilling to see me. If you have serious issues, perhaps this is not the Dr. for you!

I was really anxious about having a colonoscopy, but he made me feel a lot better about it and did a great job
