Dr. Joseph Philip Calderone JR., MD

My visit with Dr. Calderone was a result of the fact that my then current eye doctor was retiring and sold his practice to Dr. Calderone. While I found the doctor to be very pleasant and competent, I was not at all happy with the extremely long wait that I experienced. And no one seemed to care that I'd been waiting a long time and no apology or explanation was given. My visit lasted over two hours for what should have taken a lot less time as it was just a routine yearly eye exam. I am seriously considering finding another ophthalmologist since my time is just a valuable as theirs!

The reason there is such a wait is because this is a factory. Dr. Calderone makes appointments with so many people it's ridiculous - then he has his staff run them through exams like an assembly line! I just went there and had to go back 3 TIMES because my prescription was wrong. The third time he started literally screaming at me in his office. Diane, an assistant was in there and her eyes opened really wide when he began yelling. I tried to explain that the reading was right on the first exam and the distance was wrong and after the 2nd exam the distance was right and the reading was wrong. I am a professional who works in a medical field. He tried to give me excuses like telling me my vision was changing daily! I told him No, the glasses weren't right immediately when I picked them up. I have heard similar nightmare stories. He may have had good reviews when he started his practice (the picture on this page was about 30 years ago) but apparently he is having problems. What… doctor screams at a patient?

Vision check and dialation itself takes an hour, so what is the problem ? you just can't make your eyeballs pop out in a jiffy. When it come to your vision, and when you know that you are in good hands, i think an hour or two are well spent in a year.

Poor office planning for appointments. Nice Doctor with good knowledge but insulting to wait two hours for the appointment. This was not the first time I had been forced to wait- he books too many appointments for the same time and does not seem to care about how long patients wait. Hate to tell you Doc but my time is as important as yours!
