Dr. Joseph Edward Cillo, MD

Tried to get an appt with him. They rescheduled me 3 times. Not going to see or trust a doctor that dose this with a new patient and the staff in the office couldn't care less. Too bad I don't have UPMC insurance. I would look elsewhere.

If you're considering treatment from him, make sure he's in a good mood because if not, he might perform a procedure without numbing or showing care. It was a frightening experience for me. During the procedure conducted by his resident, an honest mistake occurred. When I returned seeking help, he treated me poorly, dismissing my concerns. When I asked to file a complaint, I was isolated with his nurse, who made notes but didn't follow standard complaint procedures. It was confusing as there's a clear policy for complaints that wasn't offered to me. I recommend documenting your mouth with a video before any treatment to have proof of any issues later on.

I went to Dr. Cillo for wisdom teeth removal and the intent to have jaw surgery. I met Dr. Cillo briefly, all of 2 minutes, at pre-op appt for wisdom teeth after 3 different residents walked in and out not knowing what was going on. He seemed okay, just busy since he does work at a hospital and not a private practice. Fast forward to extraction day and I have to assume Dr. Cillo removed my teeth because he never checked in with me before anesthesia. Anyhow, recovery went well and I had little swelling. So I planned on having more work done with Dr. Cillo, however, the front desk is too incompetent to schedule appt type. So instead of meeting the guy who would be performing jaw surgery I ended up with a resident who scrambled to get example pics of other patients whom had jaw surgery. Dr. Cillo never met with me or went over my x-rays or pictures. It sucks because this surgery is a big deal and no one seemed to care. Especially, the awful front desk staff. Dr. Cillo is probably a… great surgeon, but I'm going elsewhere.

Went in for a follow-up after surgery. Kept forgetting my name and the date of surgery. I waited an hour and 45 minutes to be seen, only to be told there was nothing he could do for my pain. He refused to prescribe pain pills and refused to clean my wound, saying, “You should have expected there to be pain.” Terrible bedside manner!
