Joseph Clara, MD

Dr. Joseph Clara is a hematology and oncology specialist who earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He completed his residency at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in 2014, followed by a fellowship at the prestigious National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in 2020. With 13 years of medical experience, Dr. Clara brings extensive expertise to cancer and blood disorder care. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Dr. Clara practices at multiple UVA Health locations throughout Charlottesville, Virginia, including the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center, University Medical Center, and the Stem Cell Transplant Clinic. His clinical focus centers on treating serious blood cancers such as acute myeloid leukemia and acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He also provides care for patients with neutropenia, a condition where white blood cell counts become dangerously low.
