Dr. Joseph James Colella, MD

Had issues after surgery and no care after surgery like I should. He now is up and leaving with no info on who to see.

Dr. Colella performed RNY surgery on me in 2003. I was 65 at the time and weighed 350Lbs. I am now 81 and still weigh less than 200. I had many complications which he brought me through with his expertise and concern. Pulmonary Embolism, strictures that required revisional surgery, and malnutrician. My life changed dramatically and I went from someone who could barely walk to one that walks daily and even still rides a bike. Dr. Joe changed my life and I will be forever grateful. He really saved my life!

Thank God for Dr.Colella!! He provided me a life time tool with the Rounx-y gastric bypass approximately 14 years ago, I have survived my siblings with complications of diabetes...i am diabetes free!! I started out weighing 242 pounds, I am now 98 pounds and Love the way i feel and look!! I am strong, and I am very 54 years old and run rings around my 21 year old coworkers!! I met Dr. Colella years ago and he helped me a lot. At the time I didn't have the insurance to see him so I waited a yr for him. It's been 4 years since my surgery I had major issues, he was there for me and one day he was gone. Gone without a trace from the hospital, no forwarding info to his patiences.

This Dr is remarkable..

Dr. Colella was probably the most memorable physician I have ever met with for multiple reasons. I am a healthcare provider myself so, I am well versed on who is competent, who cares, who is talented/skilled, and who deserves recognition for their works. Dr. Colella is among the best in the nation (and world I'm certain) and we as patients and individuals who count on the American healthcare system remaining the best in the world, should demand more physicians like Dr. Colella.

Went to see Dr Colella as I was referred to him for issues I hadnwith band surgery that was actually performed else. But now I am in Pittsburgh and needed a surgeon. I read other review on hom and hensounded wonderful soni gave him a shot.as it turns out he turnednme away and sent me to Magee. I should have went there in the first place. They were Fabulous. I would say that he is worth the wait, keep in mind that he will spend as much time with you as you need so you have to be patient in knowing that he needs to do that with all of his patients and that sometimes causes him to run behind. I have had my issues with him, however I still find him to be one of the kindest and most caring doctors around. I have felt like he was more a friend than a doctor at times. I would highly reccomend him to anyone. I have been his patient since 2001 and as he told me when he did my surgery..."your mine for life now" I guess I am. Thanks Dr. Joe.
