Dr. Joseph Paul Desimone, MD

Dr. DeSimone saved my life 11 years ago. I was admitted to Dartmouth Hitchcock with an unknown heart problem. With some quick thinking and looking, it was apparent that I was having an aortic dissection ! Eighty percent of people who have this don’t survive and for those that do 80% don’t make off the operating table ! Dr. DeSimone with two other surgeons performed a 13 hour surgery and I’m still around to talk about it. Dr. DeSimone will always be my HERO...

I've never felt more comfortable speaking with a doctor before, let alone a surgeon. He has confidence without arrogance; He listens to what we have to say without the look or sound of disbelief or hesitation. I called a friend, who is an anesthesiologist in NYC, for his opinion concerning my surgery. He called me back a couple hours later saying "I called the smartest doctor I know and trust and he said Desimone was the smartest surgeon he knew and trusted." Six years later and everything is still working as intended.

I've never met a dr. that took so much time to explain a diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis; not only to the patient but to the family!! we (patient and family) traveled a long way (450 miles) to be treated and operated on by dr. desimone and would do it all over again if need be. his expertise and bedside manner are second to none and have had many experiences with several drs and hospitals to compare it to. many medical professionals in the family to agree with these worthy praises!
