Dr. Joseph Anthony Donnellan, MD

I started seeing Dr.Donnelin a few years ago and admire his frankness patience, and understanding of my experience with less expertise in my area of Issues. I would highly recommend Dr. Joseph Donnelin

It’s been difficult to write this review due to the fact that it’s hard to put into words how grateful I am for Dr. Donnellan. He is warm. He is inspiring. And above all, he is genuine with his hope to help make his patients live better lives. Dr. Donnellan did not fill me up with drugs and send me away. Instead, through therapy, he was able to diagnose me and provide a healthy balance of medicine and knowledgable insight through weekly sessions. Anyone who is sick needs medical treatment, and the same goes for mental illness. He gives his patients the bread crumbs to follow to their own recovery, but makes sure they are standing on their own two feet to get there. He inspires by showing how life is worth living and to enjoy it and encourages taking advantage of the time we have. In that regard he is a person who practices what he preaches through skiing, boating and riding a motorcycle. He shows you life can be fun. In my darkest hour Dr. Donnellan, along with his nurse Caroline,… helped save my life. I am forever grateful.

Dr. Donnellan helped me greatly with my issues. Straightforward and honest on his approach and what I needed to do to help myself as well. Just the right pace for me too.

Dr. Donnellan has been a practicing psychiatrist for almost thirty years. Though my time spent with him has not been to the level of years as some other patients who have left reviews, I have never been more joyful about finding the right doctor. He does not boast, however he is extremely intelligent. He likes to allow his patients to think and advocate for themselves, and draw their own conclusions, with some guidance. He is excellent at challenging his patients, which if you are anything like myself, is much needed and eventually greatly appreciated. To those of you neigh sayers that have left reviews about being quick to assess, being a waste of time and money, and quick to medicate, I invite you to rethink your experience with Dr. Donnellan. Do we not all quickly assess a situation when it is thrust upon us, whether right or wrong? Second- your time, your money. Trust me, he makes your time worthwhile whether you see it quickly or it takes a bit. Medication- stop and think how… long it may take to find the right combination. You have to start somewhere, and proceed with what works and what may not work. Give yourself and Dr. D some patience, and you will start to see a difference. Overall, I could not recommend a better listener, positive instigator, and excellent clinician. If you are willing to change, and put the effort into doing so, Joseph Donnellan is the right fit for you.

Switching psychotherapeutic drugs is serious stuff, and this Dr. knows his stuff. I asked lots of educated questions and he gave me knowledgeable responses. I think he's perfect for my disposition.

Dr. Donnellan has been part of my family's lives for about 12 years now. He has helped my daughter, my son and myself. He never gives up on you and always gives you hope that he will get to the root of the problem and be able to find a way to relieve your symptoms. I put all my faith and trust in him and although it's been a long road, he has helped me find that light at the end of the tunnel. My life is so much richer and lighter with him as my doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr. Donnellan's for about 12 years now. He has helped me through my anxiety disorder by finding a medication plan that has worked for me, as well as giving me tips and advice on how to manage it on my own through different lifestyle changes. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Donnellan is an excellent and very compassionate doctor. I highly recommend Dr. Donnellan for your psychiactric needs.

I have asked this website to delete my review from that date because I feel like I was masking my true emotions, and experience, with anger. I am writing this follow up in case the review remains. We had a rough therapeutic relationship because I was not honest in therapy. In hindsight, he was both compassionate and professional. It was the anger, that I was using to block my underlying feelings, that convinced me otherwise because I was that desperate to avoid self-examination. I am truly sorry for that review and I regret that I misrepresented reality. At the time I wrote it, I was convinced I was being empowered but now I see I was wrong.

Dr Donnellan is a brash man. He may seem cold, but I promise you that he is not cold, he is serious, because he is treating a disease that wants to take your life. I was diagnosed with anorexia when I was 13, and have seen him on and off for over 15 years. No one compares to him. No one even comes close, and I have seen some of the best eating disorder doctors in the country. If you are tired of living trapped in your disease, he is absolutely the first person I would recommend to help you recover. This man saved my life. This man did what no one else could. I owe him everything and will forever be grateful that I was able to work with someone like him.
