Dr. Joseph Harry Ellen, MD

Suffering with ED for 15 years. Dr. Ellen never tested me for what my natural erections looked like and only provided simplistic answers to my questions. He never 'counselled' me to any post-op results nor provided an in-depth analysis regarding the differences between the two leading penile implant providers (Coloplast and AMS). I had all the natural girth that I needed and my penile length was just fine. He did remove some penoscrotal webbing during my implant procedure and then cautioned me to not 'touch anything down there until after the 5 week post-op training session.' Consequently, while other implant surgeons have their patients beginning to cycle their implant in week 1 or 2 post-op, I did not touch my scrotum and it's 4"+ incision until the 5th week and found that my incision had grown around my pump and tubing!! Dr. Ellen offered to 'fix' his mistake at any local hospital of my choosing (due to my horrific experience at Virginia Urology's Stony Point ASC) but I would… have to undergo general anesthesia and be catheterized AGAIN! At this point (and after discussing my experiences with the ASC's Director of Surgical Services and VU's CEO), I fired Dr. Ellen and told him I'd NEVER allow him to touch me again! This irreversible procedure was the worst decision of my life and I would NEVER recommend any IPP surgeons associated with VU nor would I recommend the Stony Point ASC to any urology patient.

Although he couldn’t offer any solution or option for my condition, Dr Ellen was very professional and made me feel at ease when discussing an embarrassing condition.
