Dr. Joseph Henry Flaherty, MD

Our family would like to thank Dr. Flaherty for assisting us in developing a care plan for our 100 year old father who has advanced dementia and was very ill and hospitalized with Covid. We truly believe if he had not intervened to help us our father would not be alive today. The hospital had no viable strategy for his continued downward spiral except to sedate him. We think Dr. Flaherty was a God send and we appreciate his very strong and convincing recommendation he made to us. Our father is back in his memory care facility where he is making a slow but improving recovery a week after leaving the hospital. The consistent and attentive care, support and stimulation he is receiving is far superior to what he was getting in the hospital. We know because we provided 24 hr attendance in the hospital as we have this week in his facility. Dr Flaherty was very understanding and sympathetic to the situation but was also very effective in communicating a reasoned and clinically based approach… for having the best possible alternative for a good outcome. As he told us there are no guarantees but you have to take the action that gives you the best possible chance for a good outcome.

My father suffers from advanced dementia, which progressed quickly. Dr. Flaherty was one of the few competent and compassionate voices within this whole convoluted world of “senior care.” Whereas many institutions treated my father as a commodity within or beyond their “target profile,” Dr. Flaherty’s interest was always in my father’s wellbeing. He was a blessing!

Met Dr. Flaherty when my brother was admitted to the hospital. How lucky we were to have him on his case. He can be trusted with his expertise and care.
