Dr. Joseph Genovese, DO

Genovese is an exceptional clinician. Last spring I was experiencing head pain, jaw pain, lethargy, vision difficulties with an enlarged red ear and lung effusion (fluid). The large variety of physicians I consulted diagnosed Gerd, TMJ, Congestive Heart Failure and sleep apnea. With my pulmonary symptoms after some 4 months without diagnostic success I sought out Dr Genovese - he gave me a timely appointment. After the initial visit he ordered lung CTs, pulmonary lung capacity tests and reviewed my blood tests. On my second visit (a short time later) he discussed the tests and did an oral interview based on my symptoms and quickly diagnosed temporal vasculitis. This was critical - he directed me to a rheumatologist and started me on immediate high doses of prednisone. His timely diagnosis and prescient action was later determined to save my eyesight and significantly reduce kidney and pulmonary damage. Without his quick and competent diagnosis I may have suffered a fatal outcome. I… give my highest recommendation to this professional and experienced pulmonologist and internist. He is a careful and critically thinking physician with the intuition and experience required in the practice of medicine. He is simply stated a great doctor.

Dr. Genovese, is a outstanding doctor. He is a very caring and concerned doctor. When I was hospitalized Dr. Genovese, Came up to the hospital every day to examine me.

Ive been a patient for a number of years. I am not one to run to Drs. at every sneeze but when I do go Im usually suffering. Dr. Genovese is kind, attentive and really respectful. Just the first time I met him I felt he was a gentle person who did not try to push any unnecessary testing or diagnosis on me. There are not so many Drs. left like this in the world and I work in the medical industry so I know.

When G.I. drs. had given up on a diagnosis for me, Dr. Genovese continued to offer help where possible. Thanks to his patience, curiosity, and knowledge, I now have a diagnosis and a medication that takes care of my problem.

Professional with an easy manner

One of the best and most courteous doctors around, extremely friendly, caring and thorough. It doesn't get any better than this. He spends all the time needed with his patients, yet you don't have any long wait time from patient to patient.

I've known him since I was young about 5-6, he was just a doctor in the hospital taking care of my grandmother, who had Alzheimer and had trouble walking. He took such great care of her and gave her the attention she needed that my dad made him her primary. Soon after he became my dad's physician and when I grew out of the pediatrician stage, he became mine as well as some other family member's primary. He takes the time out to get to know you, and emergency appointments are easy to make with him (I have bronchial asthma, so I end up having bronchitis twice every year). Since I've been his patient, I have learned so much about my asthma and ways to keep in check. His nurses are the best, they get to know you as well. They are never have any attitudes and seem to love to answer your questions and always talk with you when they take your blood pressure and whatever else you need. If he is not in the office and you need him, there is a 100% guarantee he WILL get in touch with you within… the half hour that you call looking for the on-call physician. If he knows you well enough as he does me, he will send whatever prescription you will need right over to the pharmacy without you going out to another office to wait for someone else to look at you. I've seen the other doctors in his office as well on days he hasn't been in or when he had to go to the hospital, and they're wonderful as well. They all take the time to know you and it's just a wonderful experience to be at the North Shore Medical Arts building. I'm happy that my grandma "found" him, I don't think I would as happy with any other doctor.
