As a family nurse practitioner in Extended Care, he sees patients with an immediate need that cant wait for a scheduled appointment with a physician. It might be a cut hand, a twisted ankle or an infected ear. If its urgent, but not serious enough for an emergency room, he sees the problem in the Family Medicine Department.JCMG recently expanded Extended Care hours to ease patient access to care. Patients now can be seen without appointment from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.I deal with the immediate issues, Genovese points out. Its more like putting out the fire, and then having them follow up with their family care physician. I like the urgency of it. I know that Im needed at that moment.Genovese recently joined JCMG full time, but he has been a family nurse practitioner in central Missouri for 23 years. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a masters degree in nursing and is board certified as a …family nurse practitioner.He appreciates working within a large, multi-specialty physician group like JCMG because of its large store of medical knowledge and skill. It enables him to easily consult with a specialist when needed. Someone here will know the answer. More recently hes content to sit outside and read a good inspirational book or watch his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees. He grew up in the Bronx, but has been a Midwesterner since coming to Missouri for college.His wife, Nichole, works at JCMG in the Internal Medicine department.
