Dr. Joseph Paul Gronka, DDS

My suggestion to anyone considering this dentist is to go somewhere else! I was only there for a couple of months before I decided to find someone else, but I left too late. When we first went there, Dr. Gronka’s (Jr.) mannerism was rude and abrasive. I had wondered why his assistant seemed afraid to say a word, but I brushed it off as just a personality trait. Very tense atmosphere, & it wasn’t because of her. I was originally given a commitment type form to fill out that led up to a sales pitch for extra dental work. It was basically asking me to pre-commit to whatever it would take to have the best smile possible & had multiple choice answers that make it look like you’re either agreeable, or you’re a dirtbag who doesn’t care about your teeth. When I was there, I felt like he kept trying to upsell me on a whole bunch of unnecessary dental work when I knew I didn’t have a problem. Lots of pressure from him & you could sense a coldness (or outright rudeness) when you resisted or… questioned it. I needed a filling or two, & I think he didn’t like a prior filling done in that area or something. I declined to jump into a root canal and crown because the teeth didn’t even hurt. The cavities were found on a routine visit that I regularly kept up on. I explained that I would like to try fillings first & see how that goes. He then insulted me by pointing out that I was 50 years old and asked me how much longer was I really going to live! ...And then kept trying to up-sell me on a dental work. I should’ve gotten out of the chair right then and there, but that was my mistake. I let him do a few fillings all in the same area, & now here I am, a year later, with a dead tooth and another one that’s dying and one that is questionable. These are the teeth he recently worked on & I’ll be going for two root canal‘s next week & will probably need a third. If you’re wondering if it is because I needed this back then, that’s not the case. I was told by a dentist that Dr Gronka mistakingly put the fillings way too high where they were pushing against the nerve, & this is what caused my problem. It caused my one tooth to die & the other one is dying. And did I mention that I’ve been told that I have great teeth & I take excellent care of them? I should have trusted my instinct, but I didn’t want to be rude. So who’s going to pay for the 2 emergency appointments I just had, the 2 root canals I’m getting, & the crowns or bridges I’m going to need, not to mention the 3rd tooth that’s questionable, & the future problems I will have? Certainly not him! Please, save yourself the insults, the attitude, the sales pitches & the bad dental work & go somewhere else! You’ll be glad you did!
