Dr. Joseph Henry Hise, MD

I had a brain aneurysm, was referred to the doctor from another specialist, who said if she had an issue or anyone in her family had a neurological problem he would be her choice. My aneurysm ruptured while preparing for the surgery. Dr Hise was on top of it, the surgery was performed. Thankfully I am still standing.

This Doctor is never in the office so I’m not sure how he have 30 years of experience. He was a no show at the hospital, he never met me to explain the procedure before the procedure was scheduled and he never follow-up. I regret my Doctor referred me!

This doctor never showed for my hospital procedure, He never met with me before the procedure to let me know what type of procedure or what to expect and he never followed up afterwards. My doctor referred me this to man and it took this office over a month for another doctor to write up the orders so the hospital could schedule me. I had to report 2 hours early per the hospital. This doctor did not call the office until a hour or almost two hours later after the procedure was supposed to start to say he had an emergency. After waiting a month for this office to schedule my procedure, I had to continue to call the office to see if someone would at least call to tell me what type of procedure and what to expect. No one scheduled an appointment for me to meet the doctor or anyone in the office before reporting to the hospital. This office told me to refrain from taking my pain medications due to they are blood thinners at midnight but after the procedure I was given pain medicine by the… hospital and was told they will call in a medication for me but they never called. However they did give me a written prescription that I later found out that the doctor didn’t sign it but someone who wasn’t authorized did. So therefore I had no pain medication to take after I left the hospital. I called the 24 hr line and the nurse station to let them know about the issues at the pharmacy but wasn’t able to reach anyone due to no answer and the 24/7 line the staff had left for the day which was odd. So I called Dr. Hise after hour answering service which he called back and OMG he was rude! His toned appeared to be bothered and he wanted to know why I need narcotics because the type of procedure I was doing doesn’t need narcotics and I should take Tylenol. Okay so if Tylenol is able to treat my condition why am I seeing a Neurosurgeon? If he would had taken the time to read s patient file and listened to the reason why I’m calling he would have known that Tylenol isn’t the answered. So keep in mind that while I’m speaking to this man by phone there was no apologies for him not showing up or did he care to try to call in anything to relieve the pain that I was already having when he had refrained me from taking my medication and now added to the procedure that day with you inserting something into my brain. Also he had asked who told me to stop taking my medication but he never told me to start back taking it. I was told to stop taking my medication because I had to make sure I’m completely off just in case if I had to actually do the stints. Yes this was only a test to see if I need to do the procedure but it’s the same method. The only difference is the test you are awake and the actual procedure you are asleep (from what his staff explained to me) but both are the same procedure. I was told by the doctor at the hospital that the surgeons used to put patients to sleep to test pressures but it wasn’t giving an accurate reading. So why will Tylenol relieve the pain? Per Dr. Hise he doesn’t prescribe narcotics so if you decide to use this doctor make sure you let your doctor know or stock up on Tylenol. All I can do is tell my story and a pray no one will experience what I did. I was fooled by the reviews thinking that this Doctor was right for me but now looking at his reviews which is only 7 out of 30 years of practice should have been a clue that something isn’t right.

The nurse had given me pain medicine to try to relieve my pain and I was told they will call in a pain medication for me to take since I’m unable to take my own medication but they never called. However they did give me a written prescription that I later found out that the doctor didn’t sign it but someone who wasn’t authorized did. Also he had asked who told me to stop taking my medication but he never told me to start back taking my medication. I tried to explain to him what type of pain I was experiencing and he said it wasn’t his job to detect what type of headache. WOW! Is this the Doctor you want to receive care from? Heartless man that claims he is concerned about a patient care! Maybe at one point but now it’s not there. I was told to stop taking my medication because I had to make sure I’m completely off just in case if I had to actually do the stints. Yes this was only a test to see if I need to do the procedure but it’s the same method. I was told by the Surgeon at the hospital that the surgeon used to put patients to sleep to test pressures but it wasn’t giving an accurate reading. So now they just numb the area and light sedation to stay alert. So why would Tylenol relieve the pain? Per Dr. Hise he doesn’t prescribe narcotics so if you decide to use this doctor make sure you let your doctor (who referred you) know to call in a pain medication that isn’t blood thinners or stock up on Tylenol because this man can careless about your pain per him. All I can do is tell my story and a pray no one will experience what I did. Who knows those 7 reviews could be from patients that experience good things or maybe the reviews are from family members or friends! Yes everyone has a bad day! I just hate I was the one that experience it. All you had to do was to follow-up on your patient and at least apologize for no show or your behavior. That’s just common courtesy which doesn’t cost a thing. But I see no matter what degree or titles you can still be an Jerk. If you are tired of providing patient care try another profession that doesn’t have any interactions with patients or customer service. Heck after all you did say you have 30 years so maybe it’s time.

Dr. Hise exudes confidence in himself and what he is capable of. He explains things very well, has a great personality and a keen sense of humor. I have chosen the right doc!

Nicest doctor ever. Can't speak highly enough of this doctor.
