Dr. Joseph Eugene Johnson, MD

My husband kept going to Dr. Johnson and his NP Autumn for symptoms all related to Hodgkin Lymphoma for more than a year. Both the doctor and his NP did not read prior visit notes, they just treated symptoms individually and did not look at the persistent symptoms holistically. A psoriatic rash developed on his legs, Johnson just kept giving him a stronger salve; excessive body itching, a sense of fullness after eating very little, pain on the side radiating from the back to the front, and trouble breathing. Anyone can put these symptoms in google and Hodgkin's comes right up as a potential culprit. Finally Dr. Johnson order a CT-scan and then failed to read it (we read the radiologists notes, pretty clear to any layperson that some serious follow up or tests needed to be conducted based on what the radiologist wrote). Johnson just referred my husband to a urologist for a kidney stone. Things didn't change and my husband went back to Johnson who told him he couldn't do any thing for… him. It wasn't until my husband almost died from extremely high levels of calcium in his body with his kidneys starting to go into failure that I took him back to the urologist who said, "I'm just the urologist, the stone you had was very small, but didn't your doctor talk to you about the inflamed lymph nodes in your stomach? We were shocked to say the least. He took one look at my husband and said "...get him to emergency right now or he won't see tomorrow." My husband was hospitalized for 5 days to get him stabilized and to set up a treatment plan after they diagnosed him with Stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Stay away from this practice. Johnson is more concerned about selling his supplements and anti-aging products than practicing medicine. Both the doctor and his NPs don't read prior visit medical notes (especially when it is the same persistent symptoms) to ensure a proper diagnosis through deduction and analysis along with what the patient is telling them. And they lack the curiosity to even look beyond the obvious.

The office failed to send an important order, over a two week period, and it took 6 phone calls and a lot of asking for them to finally do it. Dr. Johnson's medical assistant was extremely rude, cold and unprofessional in her treatment. She raised her voice and was unprofessional when asked why the order was never sent, and then hung up the phone. Yes...you heard right, she hung up the phone on a patient who was trying to find out why his order was not sent in the past two weeks, after numerous requests were made. Wouldn't you be concerned too? Doctor Johnson never called to explain my diagnosis and told his assistant do it (as stated by her) and I question whether she is even a certified medical assistant. She claimed she knew nothing about what she was telling me as she was telling me the report! She said that she was just "the messenger" and had no responsibility to explain anything to me since she didn't know! Gee, I wonder why the doctor never bothered to call me… then....I guess this office was just a "messenger" office and there wasn't a responsible doctor there who could call you with a medical diagnosis and explanation. I guess they really didn't claim responsibility for sending orders out either. How could they ignore 6 phone calls and numerous requests for them to do their job? I guess I was asking for too much... Had to leave because of the overall bad experiences with patient care in this office.

Dr. Johnson was our family doctor, but we have decided to find a new one. We brought in our 1 day old baby to have him checked out, then received a visit from CPS because we had a home birth.

This doctor treated me like a coward. He couldn't diagnose me so he blew me off.
