Dr. Joseph Andrew Johnson, MD

Dr. Johnson is an excellent surgeon. He did my appendectomy back in 2020. He and his colleagues took great care of me. I hope that I never need surgery again, but if I do, I will feel comfortable if Dr. Johnson is at the helm!

Rude! This doctor is not only rude but completely incompetent. Right before gastric bypass surgery he came to my room and said "ok gallbladder was good, no stones right?" when actually they DID find stones and he was supposed to remove my GB at the same time! He just couldn't be bothered to open my chart. Then I was having complications post op and called the after hours service. He YELLED at me asking why I was calling at 1 am and told me to call during office hours. I HATE this doctor.

Dr Jonson is known as the best at what He does, the truth is he is the best hands down, He cared for me with my gallbladder removal, had me stay overnight I was in the best hands ever!!!

Dr. Johnson in my opinion is a good surgeon. He performed a difficult surgery on me with a long health history to boot. The surgery went well, I am not sure if I would refer a family member or not. I had some concerns after surgery and it was usually 48 hrs or more before anyone got back to me. That was after phone calls and messages. When they did return my call, I felt like they didn't believe me. Same when I saw the NP for follow up. She didn't believe or just didn't care. When I did finally end up seeing Dr. Johnson he took me seriously, but it was a long road to get to him. When you hire a doctor for treatment, you expect to have your concerns addressed and not be treated as a drug seeker. If you check NYS data base, you can see I haven't been prescribed narcotics in over 12 years. You have an obligation to ensure your patients are as comfortable as they can be following surgery. If there is more pain than expected, a follow up appointment should be done to find the… reason, not dismissed and left to fend for yourself. He is a good doctor, but management of the office needs an overhaul.

I can't say enough positive things about Dr. Johnson. I have had 5 surgeries by him. I wouldn't consider anyone else.

Dr. Johnson is wonderful. His staff needs lessons in bedside/visit interactions. Staff seem to move in robot fashion and not very attentive to patient needs/comfort

To me, he is the best.

He rushed my surgery and I almost died. I heard some negative comments about his surgical skills during my stay in the hospital. I wish I have learned it prior to my surgery. Its too late. I am lucky bcz I am still alive. I will never recommend this "surgeon".

Dr. Johnson operated on a long-standing abdominal problem which arose after several hernia operations and complications from same.. He seemed to assess the problem with confidence, handled the procedure professionally and with obvious expertise, and has been very reliable and helpful in followup. He seems very capable, approachable, responsible, and patient - a fine example of highly-trained and effective medical talent. He's also especially thoughtful in patient care; seems to listen with genuine interest. It feels like I am in good hands.

I feel that Dr. Johnson is a good doctor. The first time, I had an appt., I waited about 20 minutes and he was apologetic about the wait. The surgery went well and he even called to see how I was later that evening.
