Dr. Joseph H Kaufman, MD

Horrible experience. I showed Dr. Kaufman 3 areas of concern during skin check up. One gets biopsy. (They say if you don’t hear back in about a week don’t worry -- more on this later). His attempt to treat two other spots with liquid nitrogen are an absolute failure. When I got home I realized he missed one spot completely, but managed to cause severe blistering elsewhere on my ear where he did spray extensively. The most concerning spot on neck appeared to be absent any direct treatment at all. Went to another doctor for second opinion. She immediately biopsied the spot on neck and called back within days to say I needed to have surgery there. She treated other missed area on ear with liquid nitrogen on exactly the right spot without mangling my entire ear lobe. Surprise. A month and a half later Kaufman (who missed two of three spots) calls me and says biopsy shows need for surgery, and asks to schedule it right away. Would never go back there!

Dr. Kaufman knows his stuff.

Office staff was courteous, the wait was about average for a doctor visit. The doctor was professional, efficient and took the time to listen to my questions and concerns. I was anxious about mole removal however his manner and skill quickly took those concerns away. I highly recommend Dr. Kaufman.

I think there must be better dermatologists in Alexandria.
