Dr. Joseph J Kennedy, DO

I was a 51 year old male and went to Dr. Kennedy as an emergency walk-in with extremely severe lower abdomen pain. When I explained to Dr. Kennedy what symptoms I was experiencing, he asked when the last time was that I had gotten a colonoscopy. He probed my abdomen a bit, not seeming too concerned about the severe pain, did not so much as take my temperature or send me to have a blood test to check my white blood cell count. Instead he told me to stop and get a bottle of Maalox, and that was the extent of my visit. Later that day my appendix burst and I was rushed in to emergency surgery. After a very unpleasant recovery, I consulted with a reputable law firm to see if there were grounds for a malpractice lawsuit. I was told that there were indeed grounds to pursue a lawsuit, but that after expert witness fees and lawyer fees that I would receive little or nothing for a settlement, and I would have to shoulder the financial burden until such a settlement was reached, which I could… not afford to do. I chose not to pursue it further. I do know I would never allow him again as an attending physician, as I believe he is completely incompetent, and frankly, am surprised he is still practicing legitimately.
