Dr. Joseph Alton Mcclure, MD

This doctor has the most abrasive personality. He is abrupt bordering on unkind. Referred my brother to a specialist in Orlando who did not accept my brother's insurance and sent/faxed no medical records to the specialist's office for easy transition of care. Had the nerve to call me and reprimand me for not "keeping" an appointment that was never given. I would never recommend this doctor

My father in law was diagnosed with cancer by this office more than 3 weeks ago. More than 2 weeks ago Dr. McClure said he wanted to start treatment right away because "there was no sense in delaying treatment since the additional test would only provide information to see how he is responding to treatment and not the type of treatment". No treatment was ever scheduled, then we had a follow up appointment last week where we were told "once again" that they were going to start treatment right away by setting up education and chemo. Still today no education or treatment has been scheduled. And, multiple phone calls have gone unanswered. This is a completely unacceptable way to treat someone who just received the worst news of their life. I have seen where others have had similar experiences. Now we are too far to change offices because that would just delay the badly needed start of treatment....so, wish us luck in trying to get things moving this week!! You may want to explore… other options if you are looking for an oncology office. Our entire family is very sad, scared and feel we have no option but to stick with this office or delay treatment even further----horrible situation.

Dr. McClure is quick and busy but takes in all you tell him and he ask good questions.

My boyfriend, Gary Smith was being treated by Dr. McClure. The doctor was always very caring and honest. We couldn't of asked for better care. Sharon Beck

Had diagnosis before seeing him. Confirmed diagnosis, arranged chemo that was successful - now six years cancer free. Seems very competent, will give straight, informed answers (research based). Best if you come with good questions - he is thorough and direct in answering. Probably not as good at guessing what you'll want to know.

As other reviewers have said the staff is horrible. Never return calls and they act like it's an inconvience to see paticents. Dr McClure himself would never give my wife any answers. His line everytime was "what do you want to do" or "what did we discuss last visit. I don't know if he sees to many people or his age but his lack of knowledge of each person is sickening. By the time my wife wanted to change doctors it was to late. Anyone thinking of McClure move on Dr. Neel is a better choice or not a Health First Dr.

Is not straight forward with information. You have to ask the right questions to get answers, if you don't he does not tell you. A patient should not have to pry information from the doctor, the doctor should be providing all the information and explaining it so the patient can make informed decisions. Doctor did not explain the severity of the situation. Staff not good at returning calls. Unfortunately have heard this scenario from multiple people.

My sister was told he could NAIL her cancer! Now she is dead!! She had to take a ride that picked her up from 6am to 8 am.It came at 6 She had to run out as is ......He had an intern working that summer who was offended by my sister not wearing a bra!!?? Really? she is in wrong business......
