Being diagnosed in Aug. 2015 with stage 4 mantle cell lymphoma was something that no human being wants to encounter, but I did! I've never been so humbled in my life, it's frightening! After being enrolled at the KU Cancer Clinic, I got to speak with Dr. Joseph McGuirk. It didnt take 5 minutes to realize I was in the best hands I could possibly be in! His knowledge, expertise and positivity almost had me daring cancer to take us on, I was not going to fail with Joe on my side! After aggressive chemo and a successful stem cell transplant, I am 45 months in remission, and still counting! Thank you Dr. McGuirk, you are my hero and simply the best! I am so proud to call you my friend!!!

He will guide you through the difficult days of a stem cell transplant with compassionate care, the best in current research and therapy, and his own unique brand of high-energy optimism and encouragement. I could not wait to see him every morning during my month-long stay in the hospital -- he was a firm rock and a continuing source of hope. A superb physician.
