Dr. Melancon has garnered national and international recognition for setting the world's record for simultaneously transplanting the greatest number of kidneys via Paired Kidney Exchanges. Dr. Melancon has published extensively in the area of organ transplantation and increasing transplant …access to minority patients. Dr. Melancon is a board-certified general surgeon and his clinical interests are transplant surgery, laproscopic surgery and vascular access surgery. His research interests are in the area of improving outcomes of transplanted organs via decreasing ischemia / reperfusion injury.
