Dr. Joseph Emmett Murray JR., MD

I have been a patient for over 13 years and on my worst visit, I would still give Dr. Murray 5 stars. Reading a few poor reviews, I wondered if the posts were made to the wrong physician. They certainly did not describe the doc I have seen several times a year for the past 13 or so years. The very positive reviews I have read here describe him just as I would. They don't come any better. Best doc I have ever seen. And he does have a fantastic sense of humor.

I never knew a doctor could be little you and make you feel like giving up. I am 5'6' tall and weight according to his scale 134 lbs. I have weighed the same amount for the past year. Every time I go see Dr. Murray he continuously tells me that my weight is alarming and that I am over weight. When I ask for suggestions for how to loose the weight he scolds me and tells me to stop eating so much and work out more. I am heart broken. As if having type 1 diabetes wasn't hard enough now I have to be ridiculed for my weight. Oh and by the way my A1C is 5.8.

Seen for diabetes. This is THE MOST thorough and knowledgable doctor I have ever met.

Upon entering the room Dr. Murray's demeanor was apathetic, disillusioned, and brusk. I presented with a constellation of troubling and debilitating symptoms and as I tried to describe in detail what he couldn't even be bothered to read over in my medical records and charts (highly abnormal lab results, hospital admissions, worsening symptomatology, etc), he continued to behave in a dismissive and preoccupied manner. Seeing as how this was my FIRST patient consult which I waited over a month to get, he rushed through it without addressing any of my immediate concerns. Instead, he ordered a repeat on thyroid labs that I had done about 2-3 weeks prior to seeing him along with a specialized urine test --at my insistence-- that he knew very well I couldn't finish due to excessive and abnormal vaginal bleeding. In short, Dr. Murray spent barely 15 minutes with me, did NOT listen to my concerns, did NOT give me a thorough examination, and abruptly left to treat another (non-emergency)… patient before resolving my private consultation with him. This so-called "specialist" did NOT bother to stay long enough to answer any of the remaining questions/concerns I had. Finally, he was incapable of considering any type of differential diagnosis. He is the absolute WORST doctor I have ever encountered. He is a lateral thinker and clearly not comfortable nor qualified enough to treat complex endocrine diseases or cases. Please do not waste your time or money on a MEDIOCRE doctor (at best) who clearly has better things to do than to listen, examine, treat, or even try to heal a live human being who was/is scared, alone, and in pain.

Dr. Murray is one of a kind. There are no other doctors like him. There is nothing I could fault no matter how hard I try. No office runs as efficiently as this one by far. His office is run like no other. I have been a patient for over 7 years and I have NEVER waited more than 1 minute and that is no exaggeration. All the other glowing comments are all true. His staff is just as wonderful as Dr. Murray. Fantastic physician. Absolutely brilliant. Smarter than any other physician I have ever met. And beside being a super physician, he has the best sense of humor I have ever seen. He is keeping me alive. (And always makes me smile.)

I' ve been with Dr. Murray for a very long time. He saved nylife in 2008. At East Jefferson Hospital.He is a wonderful person.No other doctor can take his place.No matter were I live , how many miles I need to travel I'll always seeDr Murray

One of the BEST docs I have ever met. Definitely the least amount of wait time I have ever experienced. Trust him with my life. Always feel uplifted upon leaving the office. He has a GREAT sense of humor. Great bedside manner. Answers ALL questions. Explains things in understandable manner. Never feel rushed. Tells it like it is yet very tactful. Can't say enough good stuff about this doc. Wild horses could not make me change docs. Excellent is not high enough to rate him. He is about that. Really knows his stuff.

Dr. Murray...An intelligent, caring, Doctor, who took the time to listen....worth the wait in getting an appointment.

Dr. Murray is a wonderful man and doctor. Very caring, very professional. I recommend him highly if you are in need of an endocrinologist. It took me 3 months to get in the very first time but after that, if you call with a problem, they get you in. I can't say enough wonderful things about him.

The absolute BEST physician ever.I am a health professional and have encountered many physicians and NONE can compare with this physician. He is brilliant.
