Dr. Joseph Edward Nolan, MD

I’m a long term patient of Trident Pain Center and appreciate the level of care and kindness that I always receive from Dr Nolan and all of his employees — physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, med technologists, front staff office and everyone involved in my treatment. When you are in chronic pain long term, it’s very difficult to manage snd affects all aspects of your life, your families’ and everyone you come in contact with. Dr Nolan’s knowledge, bedside manner and kindness trickles down to every member of his office and they all treat me like family. Some days, I’m in so much pain that it’s difficult to do anything. If in acute pain, they always work me in quickly with a considerate attitude, never fussy or derogatory. Even if Dr Nolan is at another location, I know I will receive the same wonderful, skillful care and kindness that I’ve learned to depend on. Pain is not easy to live with … Trident Pain Center keeps me going with as little pain as possible.… Love you guys !!!

I just recently visited Dr. Nolan for a shot in my neck or at least that's what I was supposed to get. I not only didn't get the shot in my neck, but I was treated like a drug addict. I told them that I wasn't there for pain medicine but still was treated like I was. He didn't even look at the MRI, but automatically knew what my problem was. My husband tried to tell him what the doctor that referred me there said and he told him he didn't want to hear it. I'm now to supposed to go to 15 visits of pt and have a ton of blood work done. They couldn't get my blood so wanted me to get it done at my regular doctor's office. I just took it to my doctor and he said why would he need all this blood work and wouldn't do them because he felt they were unnecessary.

I have been a patient of Dr. Nolan for over 5 years. The biggest and the most annoying problem is the nurses aren't returning your phone calls in a reasonable amount of time. If you miss their call back , you may have to wait another 24 hours. Please get rid of the nurse's answering machine and hire someone for the patients to talk to Your waiting room is always full on injection day.

Dr. Nolan helped me get my life back! I had been to so many doctors in the first few years who could not help me, but did eventually help diagnose my CRPS/RSD. Once I finally had a diagnosis, you would have thought I was terminal, and there was no hope, bc No-one had any treatment options and only offered pain meds to try and keep me comfortable. I felt hopeless and had just about given up on ever having any kind of quality of life! Then I went to see Dr. Nolan and everything changes! Yes, my CRPS / RSD pain is lifelong and yes, it certainly changed my life, but because of Dr. Nolan CRPS / RSD no longer controls my life!! He has literally put the ‘Quality’ back in my quality of life. He is very knowledgeable about my condition and the treatment options. He goes beyond standard of care to ensure you get the best treatment option available. Even though insurance doesn’t usually cover my treatment, he fought for me! With his knowledge, support, and commitment to making patients… better, my insurance finally approved my treatment (ongoing successfully for years now)! I now have hope that I’ll be able to live a better life! Even though my life has changed forever bc of CRPS / RSD, I’m happy to say that I am now living a happier, healthier, and much more fulfilled life because of him! Yes, I still have bad days, but they are far fewer than they were before I put my trust in him! While I may not get to see him at every visit, I am still treated very well by his knowledgeable team. Dr Nolan is a Pro & The Best

I have been going to Pain Management Doctors for five years on the East Coast. Joseph Edward Nolan is the worse. Insults you with comments like, I am not just a Pill Doctor you need many shots and Lab test so I can run your Medicare/Healthcare provider bill up for profit!! He has no compassion for patients and very arrogant person. I have been on low dose opioid medication for years never abusing them. I came to him for help and compassion about pain. I had three MRI for Back, Neck Knee and Shoulder with me my first visited, Joseph E Nolan didn't even want to look at them. He assumed I was there for pills not treatment and care for my pain. My worse experience with Pain Management Doctor ever.

I have been with Dr. Nolan about 5 years. In that time his practice has grown immensely. Sure It takes longer now to get injections but there is always a longer wait for the good doctors! His waiting room is ALWAYS packed. He is a kind, patient and excellent doctor who DOES care about his patients. Sometimes when our doctor is curt we think he doesn't care. That's not always the case. Maybe he was having a bad day or you were having a bad day. We are all human. His injections are always on target and his office staff try very hard to keep everyone happy in a high pace environment.

I see a lot of negative which seems to be by maybe the same person. I have been with Dr. Nolan for about 6 mos and he has been awesome a wonderful pain specialist that has helped me with the pain in my back and cervical area. I would recommend him to anyone with pain issues. He is caring and yes because of the growing clients he sometimes has to use his PA. That just shows he must be doing something right. If the clients are growing and people are wanting to go to him.

Total pill and needle mill now, has six offices (how can one doctor work six offices) to make as much money as possible. Staff unresponsive and terrified of upsetting "the boss" instead of taking care of patients. Not a good place.

The medical technician and Dr. Nolan were very courteous and informative. The nurse practitioner was rude. She laughed at my questions and anxiety about the shot. Everyone else was very kind and respectful.
