Dr. Joseph Brewer Rhodes, MD

My mom came into the Thomas Hospital ER in Malbis on a Friday 3/10/23. Dr. Rhodes diagnosed her with pneumonia and sent her home even though she was hospitalized 2 years ago during the same time with pneumonia. Meaning, she has a history of being hospitalized with pneumonia. As I said, he sent her home with only antibiotics with her means of care to fight the pneumonia. Needless to say, it is a Sunday 3/12/23 and we've been in the ER since 1pm something and it's currently 10:18pm and counting. My Mom was admitted to the hospital but we're stuck waiting for a bed to open up at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope. This all could've "possibly" been avoided if Dr. Rhodes would've admitted my mom when she came Friday or sent her home with the proper medication(s) to combat the pneumonia. He was extremely reckless with my mom's care and I will be going to the board and filing a complaint on him.

I was seen by Dr. Rhodes in the Mobile Infirmary's ER after being transported by ambulance for severe acute back pain with an inability to stand or walk. Dr. Rhodes did not listen to my complaints or review the MRI results I brought with me. He tried to release me with no treatment and an inability to walk or stand. It was only after I refused to sign release papers and demanded to talk with an administrator that I was assigned to another physician and received some help. The other staff kept apologizing and telling me they could only do what the doctor told them. It was a nightmare and worst experience with supposedly a medical professional that I have ever encountered. If I could have walked out of that ER, believe me I would have, because it was clear that Dr. Rhodes did not care about me as a patient. Word of advice, do not seek emergency treatment from the Mobile Infirmary or Dr. Rhodes!!
