Do not let this guy work on your root canal or a crown unless you are ok with losing those teeth in a year. His work doesn’t last and since the insurance only covers it once in a certain period of time be prepared to pay out of pocket or wear dentures.

I was one of Joe's original patients back before 1990. My teeth were overcrowded and prone to cavities and he talked me into major orthodontics and repair at that time. The job he did was fabulous and my mouth still looks incredible 25 years later!

The first impression when you walk into the Mt. Royal Blvd office is that the building is grungy. Then you have to walk up a staircase and a large chunk of railing is missing. A small child could easily fall through. The waiting room is very small and dirty (hair and what looked like white cat fur and dust on the chairs you are supposed to sit on). There is a stain on the carpet. The desk area is horribly painted. This doctor needs to spend some money on updating the place. At the very least, vacuum the chairs on a regular basis. I also felt that the doctor didn't spend any time with my kids. The hygienist cleaned their teeth and the doctor then spent about a minute with each of them. I was not invited to stay with my children while they were in the exam area, either. Not sure I would go back here. If the front office is dirty, it makes me question if the exam tools are clean.

I lost a filling and needed a new dentist. We chose this guy at random. The girls that work there are very nice, however Dr. Smith was not so great. He was starting to do a root canal without telling me first. I thought I was getting a filling! He knew I didn't have insurance and told me that it would cost about $1000! I would have ended up with the root canal if the dental assistant didn't tell me what he was about to do. Stay away from this guy. By the way', I need to have the tooth pulled , a root canal won't help!
