I love going to this office. All of the staff are so welcoming and attentive. I feel cared for and my daughter was born healthy. I'm currently pregnant and wouldn't trust anyone else with my care.

It has been over a year now since I birthed with Dr. Joseph Tate. I haven't left a review until now because, even a year later, the thought of seeing his face after a google search sends me into a panic. Please if you have ANY other option consider it. I will forever regret choosing him. I would have been better off getting a repeat c section and that is something that I never thought I'd say after wanting a vbac so badly. He was physically, mentally, and verbally abusive and disregarded my birth plan without any cause. From my experience he is arrogant and a misogynist who only sees women as sexual objects and vehicles to push out babies. He forcefully stretched my cervix causing my labour to accelerate too quickly during what was supposed to be a routine cervical check and once it was time to push he hyperextended my leg. I told him multiple times that he was hurting me, but he looked me in the eyes and continued to push back on my leg. I was unable to walk, let alone move my leg… for the first 2 weeks postpartum. After seeing an orthopedic specialist and getting an MRA, I finally found out the damage he had caused. I was diagnosed with a severe adductor strain and a labral tear. A year later I still have a constant pain in my groin area. He followed that up by refusing me a mask when I asked for one to protect my newborn from the cold that I had contracted and then yelling at me while I sat on the toilet trying to urinate for the first time after giving birth. He shouted the most cruel things he possibly could have and then stormed out, leaving me unable to breathe sobbing with a heart rate of nearly 160. The fact that that man is still practicing medicine and able to hurt other women terrifies me. Please look into every possible option. Dr. Tate has taken something away from me that I can never get back and left me broken.

Dr. Tate is the very best at what he does. I recommend him to anyone seeking to have a wonderful/successful VBAC. He's the very BEST!

Tate is a great doctor. I like how he offers paracervical blocks for births and makes it possible for many women to give birth naturally who would otherwise be given c sections. He is very knowledgeable. He has an amazing practice. I love how you know exactly who will deliver your baby. Most doctors practice in groups so that you do not know who will show up when your baby comes. I wish more doctors would offer paracervical blocks, as it makes it possible to walk around at 8 cm dilated. I think they are safer for mother and baby than epidurals. I am glad he is teaching his interns these techniques when seem to have been forgotten in favor of epidurals.

Dr Tate has an interesting bag of tricks including a paracervical block which works great for pain and avoiding consequence of epidurals. Unfortunately he withholds the pudendal block until you've painfully pushed for about 45 minutes. He also forcibly stretches out your perineum with his fingers whether you yell at him to stop or not. I believe this bizarre technique causes rectoceles. He thinks his method in your best interest. His technique may indeed lower the rate and degree of anal tears. But you're exchanging tears for it being horribly stretched out down there. between pushing too long because of massive pain /lack of meds which makes it impossible to just push it out, and being forcibly stretched with fingers, you end up with 80 year old stretch. If I had it to do over again, and if Tate actually listened, I would demand the pudendal block when the baby was crowning or within 10 minutes of pushing so that it would come out faster (the pain slowed my birthing process… down, though I know he would argue that I wouldn't be able to feel what to push out and that I just wasn't being tough enough). I would also absolutely refuse this bizarre forcible stretching he does with his fingers. I've never had that happen during birth, and I've never suffered so much stretching and rectoceles symptoms postpartum. I can't wear a baby bjorn, I cannot do vigorous exercise without symptoms, and I'm now afraid of running and weightlifting because of being stretched down there. Hopefully time will heal things completely. I wonder how many of his patients suffer from prolapse after birth. I don't really blame him because the science on this issue isn't really there. But I think you need to be middle of the road and not so extremist in thinking - you shouldn't overdo or underdo the pain meds. You shouldn't let the pushing stage last too long. You shouldn't make patients push as hard as they can over and over and over, or they will give birth to their bladders. And you shouldn't forcibly rip them open with fingers. In fact, in some cases, perhaps a conservative episiotomy would help. Not major episiotomy, but conservative. This extreme focus on avoiding anal tearing I think is misguided. Better to have a 2 degree anal tear than a 1 degree with massive stretching if you're trying to avoid prolapse

He is very laid back. Does not support your birth plan. Makes medical choice without consent. Uses forceps method when labor does not progress for vaginal delivery causing complications for mother and baby.I wouldn't recommend him. Beside manner is not good. Staff is laid back too.

After delivery, Dr. tate forgot the placenta and was almost cost my life. I was in the hospital for a week and a half and he did not bother to come and visit me. He heavy depend on the residents.. I had terrible experience. He is careless and talks to much.

When I decided to go to doctor Tate I was 34 weeks pregnant,with my first baby I had a caesarian and I wanted to do vaginal this time. And I did!! It was the best experience I had In my life! Thank you Doctor Tate!!!!!

My first two were a cesarean. Baby #1 was considered an emergency because my labor was taking too long and they said it was because the baby was too big. The second child child I was told that although there were no complications during my pregnancy I was forced to have a cesarean 2 weeks and 3 days prior to my due date because my first child was a cesarean. Dr. Tate allowed me to have a spontaneous birth with my 3rd child and deliver naturally without any drugs. I needed only 3 stitches and there were no complications during my pregnancy or my delivery. What a blessing to have finally met a doctor that is not just in the business for the money but who genuinely cares about what's best for his patients and their babies.

Dr. Tate is a great doctor, he is Jewish as we are and we had our son circumsized by him. We looked online for quite some time and he had great reviews and our pediatrician referred him as well. The circumsicion turned out as we hoped and prayed. It healed completely by the fifth day. Now the staff he has in his office is another story, as you walk in, there is no mannerisms. There was a child in a stroller crying, he was about 2yrs lld and one of the females working rudely would yell and shut the child up. Very hard to see, in a so call natural environment, where the child and mom come first and no meds. His staff is cold and rarely even look at you in the eyes. We waited about an hour and a half before we got seen. As a concerned patient I called the day after the procedure to ask a question and aparently dr. Tate was out on a Jewish holiday, so I was rudely told to call my pediatrician, so I firmly asked to talk to the nurse then. Hours later the nurse called and my question was… answered. The front desk staff are so unprofessional and rude, which is to bad, he is a great dr but I wouldn't be one of his regular patients. Another thing, the few times I called the phone was still on voice mail after 20-30min of their lunch period.
