Dr. Joseph K Vargo, DDS

Meet Dr. Vargo
Dr. Vargo earned his doctorate in dental medicine from the University of Pittsburgh in 1992. He completed his general practice residency in 1993 at Pittsburgh's Montefiore University Hospital and three years later earned a master's degree in orthodontics from West Virginia University. Prior to opening his orthodontic practice, Dr. Vargo had practiced general dentistry since 1993.
When he was 7-years old, Dr. Vargo sustained serious damage to his teeth in a school bus accident. The extensive orthodontic treatment he received for over six years corrected the problem and created the desire to pursue a professional career in that area. Dr. Vargo strives to use his skills and dedication to enable others to realize the benefits of orthodontics.
Dr. Vargo is active in numerous professional organizations including the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Georgia …Dental Association and the International Association for Dental Research.
Dr. Vargo has received both national and international recognition for research publications that he has authored. He frequently lectures to orthodontic graduate students and civic organizations.
Dr. Vargo is very active in community projects including the Boys and Girls Club and is a major sponsor of Ridge Ferry Park's newest playground. He also hosts field trips to his office in an effort to educate children of the importance of proper dental care. Dr. Vargo recognizes the importance of providing a well-rounded education for our children by financially supporting reading programs at local elementary and pre-schools by providing developmental books to all second-graders in the city and county schools.
Away from his office, Dr. Vargo spends time with his son, Denton, and his daughter, Sophia. Dr. Vargo and his children stay involved with their church and community organizations. He also enjoys skiing, biking and playing tennis. Though Dr. Vargo has completed many years of schooling and frequently attends courses for continuing education, he feels his best training for working with children is being a dad.

They have taught me so much, including humility, patience and how to listen. The experience has translated directly into effective communication and understanding the needs of children in my practice."
