Dr. Joseph Windham Walters, MD

He is compassionate & cares about his patients. He has always returned calls when I had questions or concerns. All I can say is he has helped my family tremendously!

He is very good. The best I think in the area. 5 years I've been seeing him.

I went to see Dr. Walters about 3 years ago after referral from 2 of my other local doctors. I have remained under Dr. Walters' care to date, and I have only had favorable experience with him...additionally he has helped immensely with the care of a family member and a friend -- both also very favorable experiences.Dr. Walters genuinely cares for my health/family, and he is quite different from psychiatrists in my past. He was prompt and heavily involved at two very critical times where I nearly was hospitalized...ultimately helping to prevent inpatient care, and getting me back on track. This included some after hour calls and a couple of weekend calls.Only negative---there was a time earlier in the year when they had instability in the front office change, going through several staff. This has no completely been resolved, and the current woman in the front office is exceptional/caring.Overall....only the highest recommendation for Dr. Walters.

This Doctor does not accept any insurance. His rate is outrageous. His demeanor in person is great. I originally had several appointments with him in person and things were great while doing personal one on one meetings.We then switched to phone consults and we both agreed to try a medication change. Unfortunately, I had every bad reaction to the medication I could get. I called his office approximately ten times over a two week period and never once did I get a person on the phone to tell them I needed an emergency consult. So I had to leave voice messages. When I did get in touch with the doctor, he botched two meetings by not being on time. This doctor has an extreme problem with office staff, professionalism in general and clearly does not understand how serious the hippocratic oath that he made when becoming a doctor is. I almost died (literally) due to the medication mis-match and all he did was continue to be late for my emergency appointments. I ultimately had to admit myself… in to a hospital where I signed a release for medical records from him and the treating physicians also placed calls to him to get a background on our treatments. Once again, he never sent the records or followed up with the inquiring doctors. This is completely illegal in the medical world.If you're looking for a psychiatrist and choose this firm, I guarantee you'll be taking your life in your own hands. Because this guy doesn't have a clue on emergency treatments of his patients.

Dr. Walters essentially saved my life and my family and I are eternally grateful to him and his professionalism. I would highly recommend Dr. Walters!!
