Dr. Joseph Anthony Zitarelli, MD

Every patient has a different experience. My experience still effects me to this day and has caused me great pain for many years!!! My advice to anyone looking for a surgeon is research and do your homework if you can on different doctors. Dr. Zitarelli planned to do an "exploratory surgery" after leaving a piece of my ruptured appendix in me after the completion of my surgery from appendicitis. This caused peritonitis to spread to parts of my body including my ovaries causing me to be infertile. Not to mention if my parents had not gone for a second opinion, I would not be alive today.

Went to ER with pain in shoulders had no idea it was my gall bladder.

My Son, age 11, complained of stomach pain in appendix area. We took him to Frederick Memorial Hospital ER where he was diagnosed with Appendicitis. Dr Zitarelli performed the Appendectomy and my Son was realeased the next day with serious complications. Dr. Zitarelli had good bedside manner and was reassuring to My nervous Husband and myself, he also made my Son feel slightly less anxious prior to surgery.
