Dr. Joshua Israel Bleier, MD

Do NOT see Dr Bleier's PA Fejka Don't let Dr Fejka's Mr Nice Guy persona fool you he's absolutely NOT to be trusted. I went in for a simple check on a condition that was bothering me when I made my appointment 4 weeks out because that was the time it took to see him and when the time came for the appointment my issue was pretty much clear but it made sense to keep the appointment since it took so long and couldn't hurt to have him verify I was in the clear. That part was easy. However. While in there he checked my file and brought up an issue that I had several years ago that first brought me to see his associate Dr Joshua Bleier. Let me make this VERY CLEAR . I was not complaining about the prior issue as it hasn't been a problem since my visit again several years ago. I've had no complications or issues since. Dr Fejka inquired about it and again for the sake of clarity let me.make this clear again....he asked to check the prior issue and proceeded to perform a completely… unnecessary test at his own behest for something that I was not visiting him for or having any issues with at all. The test has absolutely NOTHING to do with my current issue and did nothing to treat or check the condition that I was in for that day. It 100% was for something that happened several years ago and was no longer an issue anymore. So several weeks after I received a bill for an outrageous charge above and beyond my normal copay because of the test that Dr Fejka took upon himself to issue that had nothing to do with what I was there for that day. He basically talks me into testing that I didn't need or require and definitely didn't visit him that day for and then I get slammed with an unnecessary bill because of his brazen and ridiculous over treatment in office. A stereotypical bad Doctor who's only concerned with jacking up the insurance bill performing unnecessary tests on unsuspecting patients. Do yourself a favor and wait to see Dr Bleier and skip the PA who's only concerned about UPenn's bottom line and definitely not the insurance company or patients wallet. What a creep Fejka is.

I went to Dr. Bleier about a pilonidal cyst that caused me some pain when it first flared up 2 years ago. He recommended I get surgery to remove it. He said either we remove it or it could come back eventually. Then he pressured me to make a decision on the spot saying that it doesn't matter if you don't want to, I will just schedule someone else on that day and time. So I said yes.The surgery was much more involved than I thought. I had terrible pain and could not work for months although he said in 2 weeks I would be fine.After 6 months, I messaged the office saying that the area was uncomfortable and numb. They said to give it more time. Then a year and they said the same. A year and a half, they said to get an MRI. After another $250 copay, they said they don't see anything and to try other therapies. I couldn't get an in person appt with Dr. Bleier although I tried many times. Now I have permanent discomfort in a large area of my body and $6,750 less in my bank account.

I recently had Anal Fistulotomy, and Hemorrhoidectomy performed by Dr. Bleier and his team at Penn Med. I was diagnosed while living outside the USA. I needed family support post-surgery and decided to come back to the Philadelphia area for the procedure. I did extensive research and asked many questions prior to deciding where I would go, and which surgeon would be best for my condition. Michael who is a PA on Dr. Belier’s team patiently answered all my questions, on a timely basis, so I could make an educated decision. I flew back to be examined by Dr. Bleier and was able to have the surgery done just before Christmas. Shout out to Michael, Irina, and Dr. Bleier for the care, professionalism, courtesy and communication from him and his entire staff was beyond amazing. I am 2.5 weeks from having the surgery and on my way to a full recovery. I feel greatly confident referring to Penn Med, Dr. Bleier and their Colo-Rectal Group. Thank you.

I was referred to Dr Bleier when my oncologist found another tumor before the start of my radiation and chemo for my rectal cancer stage 3. I am from Scranton but was sent to Phila. because they were better able to handle a complex cancer. Dr Bleier was awesome. He told me exactly what to expect. Under his supervision I was able to have my chemo/rad treatments at home. Surgery was tough but he never let the pain get ahead of me. Before I was wheeled into surgery Dr Bleier stopped to tell me that by the end of the day I would be cancer free and he did not lie. The second tumor by my kidney was just a large cyst. He removed a large part of my bowel and I had an ileostomy for a few months. I am a month away from my 5 year cancer free status. The first time I met this doctor I knew he was going to save my life. He had confidence I have never seen in such a young doctor. He is not just a doctor, he is a friend, a person who cares and is easy to talk to, he understands the fear a cancer… patient has, he know when to hand you a tissue or give you a hug. I truly feel that I am alive because of my oncologist in Scranton referring me to such a wonderful talented surgeon.

I am one of those people that have to have colonoscopy's ever 2-3 years. Not fun. But I must say Dr. Blier and his staff are awesome. He is a very down to earth Doctor and he answers every question, but mostly makes you feel comfortable. Knowing that I have Dr Blier as my Dr.I don't cringe as much anymore when I have to schedule these procedures.

Dr. Bleier impressed me as someone who respects his patient and understands the person's need to fully understand what the treatment experience will be. He spent adequate time with me for me to feel comfortable to schedule surgery with him.

Nothing like I was told by eveyone! Almost no pain, but took meds faithfully.GREAT doc. GREAT staff! So glad I had surgery. Internal and external under general. This doc is the man.
