Dr. Joshua Boyd, MD

I recently had a bad experience with Dr. Joshua Puryear Boyd at Duke Regional Hospital. After he came in and introduced himself, he made it very clear that questions weren’t welcome and that he would prefer for everyone to sit quietly, listen to him give only basic and common sense facts, and then leave quickly without having any sort of conversation about the medical concerns at hand. He would not only get visibly annoyed when he would be asked relevant questions (like further clarification on the location of a discovered osteophyte), but when I voiced my concern on my lack of ability to properly discuss our medical concerns with him, he got angry and ultimately left the room without explaining all the tests and findings during our 7 hour ER visit. His absence required the head nurse to come in and try to explain the findings as best she could since he refused to return. If you find yourself or a loved one in a medical crisis, I highly recommend asking to be seen by a different… doctor if possible. You probably don’t want to have him on your team when trying to solve more complicated medical issues that require more than a quick performative “Lets get you feeling better” speech. Update: Be careful when being seen by Dr. Boyd because he will write misleading and inaccurate provider notes in your medical file to cover his tracks for his bad behavior. Patients deserve better care than this.
