Dr. Joshua Kellman, MD

What I like most about Kellman is his wonderfully awkward and odd sense of humor. Not everyone will get it because it's very subtle but out there at the same time, but I liked it. He did just an okay job with diagnosis and he did eventually put me on meds, but he was against me going off of the meds after 6 weeks of being on them even though they weren't working at all. After some months with him, not even a year, he basically told me he was giving up on me and didn't know what to do. Kellman is unique in that he does a therapy and psychiatry combo. While he wasn't good for me in terms of psychiatry, I thought he was a decent therapist and found him helpful. He takes a psychoanalytical approach so if that's what you like, Kellman will please you. I think he would be a good fit in terms of meds and psychiatry for someone with a straightforward case of depression or anxiety (my case is complicated), and someone who prefers more conservative approaches. I probably would have stayed… with this doctor had he known what to do with me, because he is very educated, young (so up to date on stuff), caring, and he always got back to me quickly when I called or emailed him. And his office in Wilmette is pretty sweet--it's in a very modern building. Kellman's a nice guy, basically, and is best suited for simple cases and those seeking psychoanalytic therapy.
