Dr. Joshua Daniel Rittenberg, MD

This doctor is probably competent as a surgeon, but his bedside manner is strange. He seems to be shy or lacking in confidence and is strangely reluctant to provide detailed information or recommendations about alternative treatment options.

I had an MRI that Dr. Rittenberg reviewed with me on an online visit. He was very brief and explained that there was a restriction in the canal where the nerves exited my spine caused by inflammation. He showed me a left view and a right view and then asked me if I had any question. Not being a doctor, I didn't really know what kinds of questions to ask. I feel he should have at the very least given me some kind of prognosis or what to expect in the future. Tell me there were no signs of tumors or cancerous growths to worry about and give me some kind of assurance that the problem was not serious or critical. I kind of feel left in limbo. Mildly disappointed, not what I expected from the Stanford Spine center.

I believe this guy has developed a real skill for cortisone spine injections. However, he is not informative and is absolutely humorless. He does;t want to explain anything, like going over an MRI. It's all get them and get them out. He is about as compassionate as a pickle. If none of these things matter to you, he's your guy.

Dr. suggested utilizing a chiropractor. Totally useless appointment with Rittenberg.
