Dr. Joshua Laurence Straus, MD

If I could give this provider zero stars, I would. We waited over a month for an appointment with Dr. Strauss. I understand given the need for services; but I am frustrated over the amount of time wasted - I would have been ok waiting for the right or even a decent doctor. His profile on Endeavor states, “Dr. Straus combines clinical insight with compassion…” Our experience with him was far from compassionate and that should be removed from his bio. My son was diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and treatment resistant anxiety & depression. Reports have been sent from his neuropsychologist with all of this information. The doctor said he had to go in in person because he couldn’t maintain eye contact with him virtually, asked if he was always slow, and refused to hear his concerns about his suggested medication change. Many people on the spectrum struggle with eye contact; between all of his diagnoses, he often requires repetition, has a longer processing time as stated in his reports, and… has an extremely difficult time leaving the house; and he had been on the medication combination suggested recently which was ineffective. His response to my son saying he wasn’t sure about changing his medication was that I made and waited for this appointment with him, and he could choose whether to follow his recommendations or not. He then proceeded to list other health systems with psychiatry departments we could try instead. When I pointed out that we didn’t hear my son out to hear his reason(s), Dr. Straus asked if I heard the ringing in the background. He said that meant his next patient was waiting for him, and he was already late to that appointment (he was also about 20 minutes late for my son’s appointment) - that we would have to schedule another appointment in person to continue speaking. If you are looking for a doctor that is empathetic and patient and understands how patients’ diagnoses are manifested and can even create challenges to their treatment, stay away from this provider at all costs. The most tactless, rude, callous doctor I have ever come across, both personally and professionally as a registered nurse.

Where do I even start with you, Joshua? This guy has a HUGE Napoleon complex because he is short, has to wear dress shoes to be five feet five, and became a shrink to control people and to be able to assert his George Orwellian boring, controlling lifestyle onto healthy unsuspecting people. Aside from the fact that he regularly misdiagnosed me, was late to meetings and appointments, and had numerous prescription fumbles regarding the wrong doses, etc, I'd say it's safe to say that there are a million more beneficial mammals on this planet other than good ol Joshua here, for example, the vulture, leech, and occasional skunk you see on the side of the road. All of those serve more purpose than this goon.

He does not listen to you. I was critically ill with encephalitis and he called me a hypochondriac. He tried to coerce me into brain surgery for what later was diagnosed as encephalitis. He committed malpractice and it almost cost me my life.

Exceptional care. Treats patient as a whole with medical complexities. Receptive to natural therapies as well as medicinal. Works well with neurologist and pain medicine Dr to treat the causes of depression and anxiety in patient with chronic illness. Compassionate thoughtful and wise. Been thru several Psych’s with my husband. Dr straus worked hard to get him help at a very good inpatient facility. He has helped me get resources as a spouse.

Steer clear. I could tell stories about this man—bad news all around.

Mendacious, arrogant, and dissembling. Avoid this man

Violated my trust and flagrantly lied about crucial details in my case in an effort to get out of what seemed a clear cut case of malpractice. I don't use that word lightly. He is arrogant and will say whatever he needs to to avoid accountability. My complaint about him was severe enough to result in board review. Avoid this man, he's forgotten his Hippocratic oath.

I am filing a lawsuit against Dr. Joshua Straus for the antidepressants, antipsychotics meds and benzodiazepines he recklessely prescribed to me without informed consent that caused me depression, aggression, akithesia, and insomnia. Run away from this dangerous doctor.

If you go to this doctor you will walk out with an unfavorable diagnosis (maybe more) that is likely not accurate. I feel a sense of duty to warn any future people considering this man as a doctor to trust. This man is disgusting. I walked out after 5 minutes. He labels people immediately. Please reconsider and see someone else if you want good care. I think this doctor is mentally ill himself and has no management of it.

I survived this doctor. It is troubling that the Antidepresssents and Antipsychotic he dishes out are the very cause of the symptoms themselves, especially as you try to come off them. Just like the opioid crisis, psychotropic drugs are also misleading and dangerous as are the "professionals" who give them out without warning you of the high risks involved and strong probabilities of poor outcomes, including insomnia, akithesia, homicidal/suicidal thoughts and actions, etc, They are also linked to the mass shootings across our country. These poisons disrupt your neurons and poison your mind and body. I will Keep sharing my experience to warn others and continue to sue the reckless doctors and pharmaceutical companies who harm the public.
